Thanks for testing & let me know the result. One thing I would like you to test if possible is using a caddy to replace optical drive with ssd but I think it would be too much to ask. What you can test though is trying some free OS migration software(as long as it is mbr,for uefi I think only macrium reflect free works for os migration) & transfer/copy os to ssd connected via usb enclosure(aka test of both hdd & ssd being connected while using os migration software). MAK activation was allowed over phone call by MS earlier but now it is only allowed via online chat with a support agent & after successfully answering support person queries.Still the fact remains that original MAK activated install in hdd still remains activated irrespective of whether ssd is present or not(aka behaving like hwid).
To be clear, the MAK activation was on the 8.1 install? How did you generate the HWID for 10 (for 8 hwid doesn't work)?.
No,no,I never installed win 10.This all discussion is about win 8.1 only(both on hdd & ssd). P.S. I just assumed that win 10 install will behave in same manner as win 8.1 regarding activation & hardware modifications.
My OS installed "local experience pack" (update) in my language. How can I know what has been changed ?
@cuteee since 1803 the .mui files (containing translated strings) are installed and updated via Store. The system contains only an initial .1 version that is not updated by cumulative updates (and may contain mistranslations).
Can someone make a complete tutorial to convert-split the new MSDN ISO 17134.228 greater than 5gb to installed on GPT-UEFI partition ?
1. Format the USB FAT32. 2. Extract the install.wim from the 17134.228 iso 3a. Split the wim into multiple .swm (splitwim files) <4GB Code: Dism /Split-Image /ImageFile:x\install.wim /SWMFile:y\install.swm /FileSize:3500 3b. Compress the install.wim to install.esd Manually by using DISM: Code: dism /Export-Image /SourceImageFile:"x:\install.wim" /all /DestinationImageFile:"y:\install.esd" /Compress:recovery /checkintegrity Or use @abbodi1406 his WIM<>ESD tool. 4. Replace the existing install.wim with either the install.swm files or the install.esd
Omg, there's no need to split anything. With Rufus you can create working bootable USB flashdisk for uefi-gpt even with >4GB files, just select "NTFS". It will work ;-)
I don't like 3rd party tools for things Windows can handle by itself. We are on a tech forum, all about servicing windows before install so it's easy to prepare the iso for uefi booting by splitting or compressing the install.wim to fit FAT32.
I've always wondered why some newish members come here just to promote the usage of tools like ntlite, rufus and several sketchy windows activators, when everything we need is already in this forum.
Rufus is free, a really great tool and the guy that provides it refuses to even take donations. I respect that.
Oh I forgot, only MDL tools are allowed here.. Feel free to use what you want and don't force it to others, thank you.
+1 there are no rules about that on MDL only some members trying to make MDL Tool heaven and I respect that but indeed dont force that attitude in this "free" internet world where you can grab everything
Please, I need these 2 files : fr_windows_10_consumer_edition_version_1803_updated_aug_2018_x64_dvd_0a356219.iso sha1 : 18e4cf6518a5e7af3ab272b5997583cc2fd0d4a1 + fr_windows_10_consumer_edition_version_1803_updated_aug_2018_x86_dvd_82f0150f.iso sha1 : 5f808fa42ae99236d8043f314f52478566cc2b15 Thanks in advance
