Just look at these stories, especially the bus story http://www.bbc.com/specialfeatures/...four/episode-8-fuel-for-thought/?vid=p021ljhq
Any idea how much it costs for nuclear power plants? And then the storage of spent fuel? Demolishing of defunct power plants? Etc. etc. None of that is calculated into the price of electricity. Because they are "strategic" resource (read military sh@te), hence we all pay for that... The industry running it never pays for it. If that were the case then you would pay through the nose for electricity from those power plants. This one, however, will be 100% above board, it seems to me...
Not to forget the state, which wants "stability" and "gradual changes" only... Then, the other energy research investors, their competitors... Then.......... Go figure...
Freiburg Green City The City of Freiburg is internationally well known for its environmental approach and its extensive use of solar energy and other renewable sources. Freiburg Green City can share experiences gained over many years and showcase a multitude of effective technical and organisational solutions related to sustainable energy management. The Solar Economic Factor In terms of both economy and ecology, Freiburg has been most successful in the fields of renewable energy research and marketing. A mere glance at the cityscape makes this clear. Solar panels can be found on the roofs of the Badenova Stadium and the City Hall, on schools, churches and private houses, on facades and towers. Looking further a.eld, wind turbines rise from the Black Forest. With more than 1,800 hours of sunshine each year and an annual radiation intensity of 1,117 kilowatts (kW) per square-meter, Freiburg is one of the sunniest cities in Germany. Favourable Conditions The Solar Factory All this is not due only to Freiburg’s natural conditions. Primarily factors such as the citizens’ high levels of environmental awareness, political priorities and targeted economic development, have allowed Freiburg to become a Solar Capital. Here, the opportunities offered by solar energy, in terms of climate protection, the economy and urban development were recognised earlier than anywhere else. This pioneering action has been reinforced by countless awards and high visitor numbers to unique projects, such as the world’s first energy selfsustaining solar building, the Heliotrope, the solar village created by Rolf Disch, or the zero-energy houses of the Vauban neighbourhood. Even the local football stadium has become an attraction as the first stadium worldwide to have its own solar plant. http://www.fwtm.freiburg.de/servlet/PB/menu/1182949_l2/index.html

Great thread you might find this link interesting its about energy storage and a breakthrough at Harvard earlier this year http://www.seas.harvard.edu/news/20...ry-promises-breakthrough-for-renewable-energy Hope its not to off topic for you gorski but this could revolutionize affordable low impact energy storage
How can it be off topic, when I already posted it here: http://forums.mydigitallife.net/thr...-solved!!!-!!!?p=919737&viewfull=1#post919737 Have you seen Yen's post about the German research and what they are already doing to store electricity?
At least you tried contributing... Which means you paid attention to the essential stuff and you understood the issues! Not to mention the good will, which is rare...
I'd like to post more news about German's Energy turnaround....but most articles are written in German. The latest is about intelligent rotor blades (smart blades as an example of innovation by research) http://www.bmwi-energiewende.de/EWD...14/28/Meldung/intelligente-rotorblaetter.html Concerning new battery / storage tech there is the Redox Flow Battery...
Unbelievable!!! Just seen an interview with one of the big wigs in renewables in German power structures (HRT Channel 4, show called "Eko zona") and it was quite convincing... Here's a piece of the story: http://www.renewables-made-in-germany.com/ http://motherboard.vice.com/read/one-third-of-germany-is-powered-by-renewable-energy http://ecowatch.com/2014/05/14/germany-record-setting-renewables/ http://www.naturalnews.com/034440_renewable_energy_Germany_power_grid.html
Energy problem solved energy drinks did always seem pretty corrosive, so they might be able to cause stomach ulcers. It doesnt really sound like you drank enough of them for that, but if drinking mostly water for a few days doesnt help, you might want to go see a doctor. :
This is a serious issue really. If we can solve the energy problem on practice, this will allow the humanity to enter the next level and start huge projects we can't even dream about currently.
