if you will use flas**t.exe KALG0X64.fd /all, make sure to note down first the sn (serial number), pn (product name) and uuid since this will be erased. You can then restore those with dmi tool.
Yes and thanks for your input Urie, I wish I can held longer until I can properly activate the OS... But I'm running out of time to explore while a lot of client computers had to be repaired on the workshop.
That problem is easy to solve. You just need to download the HP EEPROM tool on these forums and change the value for Vista Factory Installed.
Thanks for the pointer dannyres... I'm not realize there's already a tool for that... will try it on the next time I sell HP non OS laptop
That's a legal S*!t storm I do not want to be in..Last I knew it was a 7 yr. federal offense in the U.S. I wonder about extradition treaty?? You would be better served by using a repair bios with slic added or activate by phone. Selling hacked machines is VERY BAD JUJU.. -opinion
Yes you're right 911medic, usually I encouraged them to buy original OS... I only "helped" on a selective cust, not all Thanks again and cheers
Insyde Bios for Acer 4937G Thanks for the info. I have not caught up with my brother yet. Anyway I glad that I have not flash it. What kind of dmi tool is use to edit Insyde bios? I would probably try to edit info in the bios before trying to flash it. Thanks, Kumphanart
To lose those data should not be a real problem, as long as you don't resell or have to send it for repair (warranty). I would try for DMIScope.....
It's been a while since I messed with flas**t but if IRC when using the /all option, as long as the sections with serial numbers etc in the flash file are blank, ie of type FFFF... then the data isn't overwritten, but perhaps there are different flas**t versions that don't do that. IMO though the very first thing you should do is make a backup such as "flas**t.exe backup.fd /g" where backup.fd is the file name to use for backup. This saves all serial numbers and other personal data so that if you do have some misfortune you can at least get back to your original state, providing the bootblock hasn't been destroyed that is. Good luck with the project, seems like your making good progress.
I've come up with a method to patch the whitelist for wireless cards! Anyone willing to give it a go? I need your old device id and your new device id..
