...says a guy who trusts the industry's guns for hire... I mean, really.... You just can't make this sh#t up...
Just look at this: https://www.theguardian.com/environ...erm=275135&subid=20906735&CMP=EMCNEWEML6619I2 A sharp and mysterious rise in emissions of a key ozone-destroying chemical has been detected by scientists, despite its production being banned around the world. Unless the culprit is found and stopped, the recovery of the ozone layer, which protects life on Earth from damaging UV radiation, could be delayed by a decade. The source of the new emissions has been tracked to east Asia, but finding a more precise location requires further investigation. CFC chemicals were used in making foams for furniture and buildings, in aerosols and as refrigerants. But they were banned under the global Montreal protocol after the discovery of the ozone hole over Antarctica in the 1980s. Since 2007, there has been essentially zero reported production of CFC-11, the second most damaging of all CFCs.
R-11 used to be a cleaning agent for electronics and a multitude of other things because of it's high boiling point. I could easily see that some country in east Asia could be using R-11 and ignoring the Montreal treaty. If they did not sign the treaty, There's nothing to stop another country from producing and using R-11
Asia is terrible at recylcing and pollution control. India is bizarre, they say their main river is "sacred" yet they pollute the hell out of it. It makes no sense. Also about the island of plastic in the Pacific, this was interesting; https://mayareports.com/2010/08/10/...-solution-to-the-great-pacific-garbage-patch/ you'd think countries would be sending ships out to collect up all the rubbish and then recycle it, but all that seems to happen is news of scientists "observing" it...ffs clear it up!
The biggest problem is "us", especially "US", consuming by far the most and not caring a jot, especially the big corps....
Why is it that "US" is the big problem when in reality China is a much larger offender of the earth's ecology and abusing resources? https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pollution_in_China http://www.industryweek.com/environment/china-ranks-among-worlds-most-wasteful-users-resources (Your bias is showing)
I think it's not important 'who' is the biggest polluter. This is just made for a fight and is distracting from the actual issue. Chinas economy is far younger and has a different history and different unique factors to be considered. This applies to Asia generally...some regions start to recycle only now... They are far behind when it comes to environmental protective measures (except they steal and copy them, lol) while the US economy is older and could have used their bigger time to learn already.
What you state is true Yen, but China has the ability to learn from the ecological mistakes of the west, and yet they choose to ignore those facts. The Chinese govt is placing financial gain over their (our) ecology
Sadly, the US is using way more resources and hence polluting way more than anyone - 5% of the population and 25% of energy, for starters.... So, come again, who exactly is "biased" here?!?
Mankind is doomed, it's just a matter of time before things have reached the tipping point and then we don't have to worry about much anymore after that. Enjoy life now and hope for the best because things as they are now isn't going to last much longer unfortunately.
Using resources and polluting are from your own assumption, please do post any kind facts. After all this is the internet and you can find any type of facts to fit your agenda with google (use the onion if you must)
Don't know if it was me that you posted to but here's facts: https://www.express.co.uk/news/scie...-don-t-leave-Earth-3-reasons-Starmus-Festival
Stephen Hawking is right though, because either: 1. Humans have outgrown the planet, and have stripped it of resources and destroyed it through cliamte change, with nowhere left to explore This is the most possible and closest scenario, we're almost there. 2. The planet's days are numbered due to the threat from asteroids, black holes, super nova, and solar radiation It's possible but it will not happen in a foreseeable time. 3. Mankind was born to explore, and with few places left on Earth, it is our only option to keep going beyond our solar system This is true but mankind is yet ready to take that step.
