You are confusing process base with 'common' behaviour of certain energy branches in the name of profit making. Fission produces radioactive waste. That is a process based FACT! To use a new wind turbine from China instead of recycling the old one is a behaviour in the name of profit making. The same 'confusion' on your part applies to growing potatoes. Growing potatoes from the perspective of the process itself produces absolutely no waste. It's a practice in the name of profit making that does. And that is namely overfertilization. When it comes to risk potential the 'amount' of waste is irrelevant. You should know that it's the dose that makes poison. And nuclear waste is toxic at low amounts. 1kg of nitrate excess is far far less dangerous than 1kg of nuclear waste. Caesium 137, strontium 90, plutonium 239, etc.. (It's actually sore that I have to write that). You can change a behaviour, but a process based fact you cannot!

First off, recycling in general needs to be more profitable than making the materials cost to make in the first place. If you can't get this right, your economy will collapse and your country will die. This isn't about greed, it's about sustainability. If you can't figure out how to recycle the materials well enough, then you need to develop better methods of recycling. This goes for all types of recycling for low levels of plastics to high levels of industrial waste. Sometimes people need to be encouraged to purchase more recycled materials through awareness campaigns. The plastics industry has had a huge head start in advertising. Secondly, outsourcing your energy sector to China, isn't just about profit. China has the rare earth metals like lithium and the processing capability. There are a few other areas on Earth that have them, but if you don't have them in your country, or don't have them developed, they either need to get developed, or you need to abandon that line of production. Relying on other countries for rare earth metals is the most foolish thing you can do, especially with something as important as your energy sector. On the farming issue, everyone would starve if farmers didn't use fertilizer so that is a dumb argument. The only people arguing that farmers are using too much fertilizer are people who are trying to rob farmers of their land. Nobody would use too much fertilizer on purpose. There's no profit incentive.

It's no dumb argument. I argued on 'producing potatoes produces waste'. If you calculate the amount of fertilizer properly there is no excess nitrate, phosphate or potassium. Excess=waste. No excess, no waste at the process. I did not argue against the use of fertilizer. This is right, but you have to add the finite resource itself as being capital to the consideration 'being profitable'. At recycling you are keeping that capital within a cycle instead of to lose it as a waste.
