POV depends on the subject and as I said, I am not a "geek" or experienced... It's been a while since I tried Wine and it simply didn't work, plus it was rather complex... Something new happened in the meantime, making it easier for lay people like me? Great, will try... But POL did not work on many apps and sadly wasn't made to be used in a simple procedural manner, ASAICR... As a principle, I will not pay for Wine plus GUI which pulls libs and configures it, which is half the price of a complete OS etc. etc. Preposterous! Any help with configs and so on for the WINE frontends, perhaps? As in: really good quality intro/tutorial websites that I may have missed... Thanx!
I dual boot also. I have no interest running Wine. Tried it years ago, just not the same as running Windows. It had too many issues.
My response was removed & others of mine were edited w/o my say so ?? But the trolls uglineess was allowed to remain ?? WHEN TROLLS ARE THUS ENCOURAGED & THOSE WHOM THEY ABUSE ARE DISCOURAGED, THE END IS NIGH.
A lot of SW I use under Winblows is available for Linux, too. But not all, sadly... Frequently, the functionality is not as good... And not all the drivers are OK for my peripherals... Now, that is a real problem! Dual boot a must in such a case. The link in the top post, for instance: E-Channelizer, as other apps for my hobby can be found in Linux. (Must find out if Balena Etcher has an equivalent in Linux.) Also, not sure of audio-visual editors under Linux, as I haven't yet used them... Things like Wondershare UniConverter and alike... Must also see in detail my VPN options there (very important)... Surfshark has a Terminal installed app, using Terminal commands, nowhere near the same options as under Winblows... (Mind, security in general is also a concern, as Linux isn't inviolable... I wouldn't mind something like Kaspersky Total Security for Debian Linux, as Firewall presumes knowledge of various protocols and whatnot...) A-V chat apps are getting better under Linux but I can't remember now if all are catered for and if they are now fully functional, as under Winblows (I use Signal, Viber, etc.). Snap and quick & easy photo editing SW I must learn, too... Together with a good office/pdf converter - I need it for my hobby related tutorials... Some A-V surveillance SW I use (HW to monitor the kids sometimes) does not have apps for Linux, sadly... In the end, at least when I tried before, it was a bit frustrating, cumulatively too many pieces were "not whole"... But since we keep improving, every so often one must try and try and try again...
Surfshark now has a linux gui, but no kill switch yet. They give easy instructions for setting up a firewall UFW rules in terminal.
Thanx, I know of many of these points, many apps I have used already and I have informed myself on Surfshark etc. beforehand... Thanx for those I did not know, @ipx ! Atm no time, complications of various kinds but I will get to it - soon, I hope...
