likely cmos reset due to dsdt issue or AppleRTC needs patch if using 10.7 or 10.8

if its in dsdt then u can mod the RTC to give different value 0x06 or 8 as normaly is for Windows 2009 than for Darwin 0x02 to prevent reset.. and patch AppleRTC

Hp is crap in my books

So the whitelist patch affects osx, which seems strange, though. I don't know what is patched. I suggest to upload the mod and the original to compare.
An alternative would be not to patch the BIOS code, but to add your vendor and device IDs of the new wifi card.
You can upload both BIOSes and post your device and vendor ID of your new card...maybe I can help.

actualy osx resets cmos when its 10.5.5 or higher (this was the time before DSDT mods were not needed) if no dsdt patch of Device (RTC) length is higher than 0x02
in 10.7 or higher AppleRTC needs a patch to stop cmos reset also.

HP RSA protection of checksum+ cmos reset = ^

i was thinking to mod his dsdt to give proper value for proper OS .. or he can use a dsdt in /Extra folder

I thought he is already running a patched DSDT / CMOS-reset (hackintosh) ...what IS hackintosh...?
I am not familiar with Apple products. I don't need them at all. :)
