That's right! If you need help with other OEM brands tell me I'll see if i can get one of em to try out
That's great news! Now if there was a similar tooL for HP... especially HP Proliant Servers BIOS's... dumped SLIC appears to be empty after OEM Prod ID...
I have an inspiron 1501, can someone explain the procedure? I am having a dyslexic moment and can't quit figure it out.
Hi Sounds like a very neat method. Tried method on a Dell Latitude 120L (Bios A09). Didnt have a floppy but used the DOS bootable USB stick I always use for stuff like this. Bios showed no slic before. No go for both assets 12/31 and 12/34. svctag change didnt have any impact either. But very interesting method.... So look out any Dell machines Ill run into on my way round... Gonna fix ya
The 120L never had an option for pre-installed Vista so the SLIC is not present in the BIOS at all. These methods only unlock a shielded SLIC.
Yes I figured that was the case cause of the missing wrong size slic. But couldnt help myself from trying....
I have two PE2950's I would like to try this on. I have googled svctag.exe 3.4 but havent had much luck in finding this utility, other than a couple of dodgy looking sites that wanted registration. Can anyone PM me or otherwise point me in the right direction?
@digglife You don't need those files for a 2950. You can use the file from Yen's link and it'll generate a bootable floppy for you.
Tested on a PowerEdge T105 with a shielded 36 byte SLIC. Afraid to report it did not work I tried asset PASS:12/31 and asset PASS:12/34. What I really want is a SLIC in my PowerEdge SC440 - does anyone know of a way it can be done? I'm not optimistic
