Hi. I have such weird problem. I can do everything step by step acording to tutorial from the first page until July 24 update. After july update my computer dosn't want to start back after restart. If i skip july update and install august update, same situation occur. Is there any solution for that? obviously I can restore system to the previous restore point but after restoring windows update completely doesn't work. I don't wanna reinstall again windows and worry about future updates that can brake my system again.
olo320i: Which step in the guide is causing your computer not to restart and load? Which July and August 2024 updates are you referring to? I do not plan to do another complete test anytime soon, and I do not know why you are having that issue.
#28. Load Windows Update, then click “Check for updates” after i check it i have list of updates to install. I can install everything apart from july 24 rollup (i don't remember kb number.)
Give us more information. What is your motherboard (if desktop), what laptop otherwise. Bit architecture? When you say your computer don't want to start do you mean that it is going past bios but gets stuck on the windows logo (or exactly before)? If this is the case spam F8 (or was it F5) during boot. The way you would try to boot into safe mode. Once you get the options up choose "Disable signature enforcement" or anything similar. See if this lets you boot. If you get to this menu and disabling signature enforcement doesn't do the trick feel free to try all options one by one.
Ok. My rig is msi ace max z790 i9 vista x64 enterprise or ultimat both have the same problem. I did 2 attempts installing july update and later I skipped july update and jumped straight to August update and the same problem. When windows update finished installing next step is restart. When you hit restart next step is blue screen with info: windows installing update step 1 30%, step 2 70% and step 3 till 100% is after restart. So after step 2 and restart I have black screen and nothing more. When i hit f8 I have all those options you mentioned but none of them work.
If I'm correct, that's a 12th -14th generation motherboard which is designed to run Windows 11 64-bit.
Considering the much newer hardware in your PC, I'm very surprised that you were even able to get Windows Vista to install in it. I'll leave you with xrononautis.
I have no clue honestly. My guess was that they dropped support/blacklisted drivers but this doesn't seem to be the case (even less since you motherboard is not old at all). You might have to stay on the June cumulative update if they changed something that made the newer ones incompatible.
I believe the end date for Windows Server 2008/2008 R2 is January 2026, but only time will let us know for sure.
My October 2024 updates for Windows Vista Business SP2 64-bit (already up to date to September 2024): KB5044320 Security Monthly Quality Rollup for Windows Server 2008 KB5044098 Security and Quality Rollup for .NET Framework 2.0, 3.0, 3.5.1 SP1, 4.6.2 for Windows Server 2008 SP2 Both updates were detected and installed by Windows Update and required no manual intervention nor displayed any error message (as Panda X already stated).
