BTOR @tecman what do you have in ei.cfg file ? BTOR, I have the following lines into the ei.cfg file [Channel] Retail [VL] 1 Is it correct? Thanks TecMan
+1 on that, Same method that I posted earlier, FYI and Just for grins I did try out the keys posted on pastebin from 4 Sept, which did allow me to add the key saying it was valid but after doing the upgrade Windows said it needed to be activated again and when I did the phone in the key/s was invalid.. DP
Hi BTOR: I can install the Windows 8.1 Pro with Media Center but the Windows is not activated...and the key is another different then I wrote into the cmd file...something wrong... What do you recommend me? Thanks TecMan p.s. I backed to Windows 8 with Media Center...need my pc
everything worked fine, I didn't have my network installed and windows was not activated, as soon as I installed my network, it became activated, so apparently it still needs to communicate with the ms servers? is that correct? I had assumed it would be activated without even a network connection?!?!
No can!!! Input Key: 1) Activated free W8.1WMC = said the key is for adding feature 2) XXXXX C9WKB = said the Key does not match Recreating the iso again
yes i have said before and saying it now you need proper retail key or at-least *.dat files from a proper retail key to get this method to work. if your dat files are from a KMS or non-retail base that this method is sure to fail.
Well, you don't need a network connection to activate the os. I have tested many times without network connection, every time the os is activated. the method I have posted here is for the activation data files that have been once activated on windows 8.1. so without any network connection it will activate.
So from what I understand this method is to avoid the phone validation hassle? Also, if you just activate your Professional edition using pastebin key, it won't remain genuine for too long, right?
sorry not in my case! I used the files from my activated 8.1 with media center, every step went perfect, no errors, iso created perfectly, when i reinstalled yesterday, it brought me to the desktop but it was not activated until I installed my network
Hi BTOR: Thanks for your reply...and let me clarify some points: 1. I have a retail key for Windows 8 Pro 2. I have a promotional key for Windows 8 Pro with Media Center (Microsoft e-mail) 3. I have 3 retail keys for Office 2013 (Office, Visio and Project) 4. I have the Activation Backup (W8, MC, Office) with Advanced Tokens Manager v3.5 RC 4 5. I done the method with the following: - Copy the data.dat and tokens.dat from Activation Backup directory (Advanced Tokens Manager v3.5 RC) to C:\WMC_DATA - Replace my promotional key into the Code for Windows 8.1 64 bit 6. Your recommendation for EI.cfg was great, I could install Windows 8.1 with Media Center 7. After the instalation, Windows is not activated 8. When I clicked Activate Now...the five digits of the current key, they do not correspond with any of the 5 groups of 5 digits of my promotional key In this moment, I backed to Windows 8 with Media Center and Office 2013 with Activation Restore for Advanced Tokens Manager v3.5 RC 4 without problems What's your opinion? Thanks TecMan
ok now i understand, just tell me,do you know the WMC/MCE key, you used in previous win8prowmc install? if you know/have it execute the following command online and tell. Code: slmgr /ipk please-fill-your-product-key-here slmgr /ato
Hi BTOR: Thanks again for your reply...and let me explain what that I done after Windows is not activated message... 1. Tried to change for my promotional key with...Command Prompt (Admin)... slmgr /ipk please-fill-your-product-key-here...the result was an message error....something like you have a Windows Core and you can't change it... 2. Tried to activate by phone...and the Instalation ID was not valid You don't need to re-activate your os through phone again, with this method... The big questions are... - Why the method changed the key for other? - Why can't I change the key? - Do I need to Copy the data.dat and tokens.dat from spp directory for Windows 8 with Media Center? What's your take? Thanks TecMan
1.IT IS BY DESIGN, /SET PRODUCTKEY is of no useas far as WMC is concerned. 2.Because the SPP is corrupted. 3. yes a *.dat files from [retail] ProWMC is needed. YGPM
What are trying to do, you have taken a backup of Windows 8 Pro + WMC Retail Activated "data.dat" and "tokens.dat" files and you are trying to make a Windows 8.1 Pro + WMC Activated ISO by using my tutorial. But did you read my post properly, i have clearly mentioned that you need Windows 8.1 + WMC Activted "data.dat" and "tokens.dat" files. So, Here is the simple way 1) Install Windows 8.1 Pro with Default Key 2) Insert your Windows 8 Pro Retail Key and Activate 3) Insert your Windows 8 WMC Promotional Key and Activate 4) Backup the "data.dat" and "tokens.dat" files from C:\Windows\System32\spp\store\2.0 folder Note: "data.dat" will be hidden 5) Copy the newly backuped "data.dat" and "tokens.dat" files to C:\WMC_DATA folder 6) follow my Tutorial
Hi MSMG: Thanks for your reply and for your recommendation... The problem was *.dat files...I need to follow your last 6 steps... When I have some time, I will do it... Thanks again TecMan @BTOR, Thanks for your reply
