My software based tool set is not functional with these models. But my instructions in my first post here will guide you on doing it yourself.

While I know it probably won't matter at this point, here's my question: with all the work that Mazzif has done to create not only the tool(s) but the info to get these kinds of tasks done, does it require using a chip programmer to remove the BIOS Admin password? I just got a Folio 9470m yesterday, didn't think to check for the Admin password when I was looking it over so that's my bad I suppose. The laptop works fine, but some aspects are obviously not working as I'd hoped: it has a Lite-On 32GB Flash cache mSATA drive in it but it's non-functional (I'm guessing that's a setting in the BIOS), and VT-x is disabled so I can't do any virtualization work either.

As stated, everything seems to be in good working order but like most of us, just having that password there to prevent me/us from making full use of the laptop is like an itch in the mind that won't go away. :)

I've read this thread, read the other thread, and checked out a bunch of info including looking at the software tools created to help with this. My fear is that the 9470m is one that can't be unlocked basically without some chip programmer. I suppose I'll look for that HP email address and reach out to them with the necessary info and hope for the best.

I don't want to risk flashing anything unless I'm fairly confident it's not going to pooch the laptop, I kinda like it and don't want to kill it quite so fast.

But if the possibility exists to use the SN/UUID with some software-based tool from a bootable USB stick to resolve this and get that fully unlocked functionality, well, that would be awesome.

(and yes I tried the SN at bios-pw.org and no it doesn't work, sadly)

Hopefully it'll work itself out at some point or I may just sell the machine for a small profit over what I paid for it.

Thanks for all your efforts, Mazzif, they are appreciated.

EDIT: I contacted HP support using their online chat, provided the info, they emailed me the smc.bin file created for my 9470m in about 5 mins, that was that. So if you need a 9470m BIOS reset, take a chance and see what happens. Good luck...
