When an activation trick, expoit, etc is released you only need to know three things. SLIC, Certificate, serial. Just be patient, it's free to use for now anyhow.
With respect, they can only force us so much without killing their sales. If Metro truely is so bad for normal desktop and laptop (non-touch) usage, the public's opinion will force MS to change. Vista got a lot of bad rap (some warranted but I still liked it overall) and so MS corrected it with Windows 7. So based on how the response is to Windows 8, either Windows Nein or a Win 8 Service Pack will make things easier to deal with. I totally ignore the Metro side of Windows 8, and even with the CP's bugs, I don't want to go back to Windows 7 already. I've got a shortcut in the Startup folder so that the Desktop is loaded (after 5-10 seconds, but I can live with that since Windows 8 boots so fast), and Classic Menu gives me a better Start Menu than before. Everything else is business as usual as far as my Windows usage goes. I never go back to the "Start" screen/Metro, so it doesn't bother me.
I thought it was said that OEM Windows machines will use UEFI so I thought it would have to emulate that as well. And will it even still SLIC and certificate in that case?
That question still remains until release. But we've been able to install a cert etc since Windows 2000/XP, why would M$ change that now?
Those times are over. You probably need MSDM table (unique serial) / CBR (computer build report with hardware hash and signature) UEFI is probably not required, but not sure.
No way I just looked in another thread talking about UEFI and TPMs etc, so behind with all the news lately. This looks like it could be a bit of a pain in the backside.
