My original vote was no. However, after spending some time with the CP and learning the new interface I am beginning to like it. I say give it time and learn it. Like I said my initial reaction was this sucks. There is no doubt that the speed of the Win 8 CP is much faster than Win7. I have always had the opinion of change is good, embrace change instead of running away from it. My opinion is to give it time before making any decision. My only concern is the novice users i.e. my parents would almost never be able to grasp this new interface.
I really don't see why so many people are having a problem with Metro. All it is, is a full screen start menu. Nothing more, nothing less! People just need to give themselves some time to adjust to it.
certainly not an arguement , you have however shown your n00bness by stating that the registry is better than man files , even the most hardened windows fan bois know the registry is a BIG fail, there are many other areas where linux pwns windows but i wont get into that. enjoy ur new DE , i however like to be in control of my OS not the other way around, hail redmond !!! joking aside i am impressed with the windows 8 RAM management , really good , lets hope its same same on final release.
After some time with it, I like it. Trouble is, you go into this not really knowing how to do the new things. MS absolutely shouldve included a tutorial. Too easy to turn off frustrated users when they have no clue how to do this that or this. Not to mention, its still Beta with some bugs. MS can only make this better and improve upon it before official release. They damn well better have an interactive tutorial included though and I still say it would hurt to put an Update out for the Beta that gives you a tutorial.
I felt the same way. Hated it at first. One day on it and learning how it all works I am starting to like it quite a bit. Have had not one problem as yet and my computer is running faster and better than with xp or 7. Love windows 7 and miss the old start menu like every one else. But I was not happy with some of the changes in 7 when I first installed it.
The first is that we should understand that Windows8 is not meant for using it only on normal desktops & laptop. It is developed for much larger audience. Now M$ wants to expand its market to gadgets which will be future to computing. Say 10 years from now tablets would become primary gadget for computing. That why I consider this interface is really a futuristic interface. The future of GeNext computing begins with Windows 8
lol, Microsoft thinking Windows 8'll Boom. They have no idea that in upcoming days windows 7 will rule on earth. But i like some Ui tweaks like Copy Application,Taskbar in windows 8.
Macros**te just bought 1 billion worth of patents from butt-holes-on-line..... All to their own, they say...
That would be another way to achieve something useful for Gates and for the market. Anyway to spend his money to fight diseases such as malaria, HIV....... research and humanitary projects are the far better ideas. Mr. Gates is the only good M$ guy I know. He has got that money is only useful when spent, not when accumulated. Btw: He should have left some millions for Ubuntu anyway
I know what His Guiltiness is doing with the ill-gotten gains from a monopolistic position in the market... Better than a poke in the eye, as it were... But that's a cop-out! An easy way out of his guilt-ridden existence... The really hard thing to do would be to help the opponent oppose him properly!!! IF he really "believes in capitalism, market, competition, profit and all that"...
yes it does SUCK!!! and everyone that I know that was running it feels the same and all of them have stopped using win 8.
After 6 hours of using Win8 I have found it to be quite useful. Navigating the system takes time to learn. I enjoy the start screen quite a bit, has everything you would normally check such as email, weather, calendar, friends and other useful shortcuts. Not to mention the sidebar that appears only after you hover over it is quite interesting. (Guessing someone will find a way for this to be like the gadget bar in the future) Plenty of shortcuts in the menu bars during navigation example: would be the disk tools while in C: Well that's part of my 2 cents so far.
