Exactly my thought! Garbage OS UI!! Windows 7 is light years better in terms of usability and effectiveness

    thanks you socrates007 :worthy:

an old Amiga user can't fully trust M$, anytime...

In the same league, I don't trust any software (windows first) that's why I consider that an outbound firewall is an absolute necessity theses days. But I didn't wanted a full fledged firewall with bells and whistles, noob interface etc, I just needed a "power user" clone of little snitch (on MacOSX). For inbound, I don't really care because I'm already behind a router/ hardware firewall.

The number of programs who phone home is amazing and finding one like little snitch was at first, a bit tricky on windows. I used for a long time Kaspersky Anti-Hacker, which had little foot print and worked good enough, but is not developped anymore and crash on w7. After some long research, trial testing etc, I've came across something great (a free personal version is available too) : Windows 7 firewall control. Despite his name, there also a windows Xp version ! I highly recommend this piece of software for thoses concerned about security and risks involved by leaking information from your computer.

    @anti-t

You are most welcome. And thank you for the tip on Windows 7 firewall control. I'll have to investigate it further and give it a try when I have some time. I'm always interested in anything that helps to control our info from leaking out. Back in the day, I sure do remember all of my friends who had Commodore Vic 20s and Commodore 64s. You probably used their later systems like the Amiga 1000 or Amiga 500?

Either way, those were some fun days for sure. Then eventually M$ squashed out most of the competition. Now we have this Windows 8 monstrosity - huh! :D

The taskbar is transparent, but it's more smooth. It's not solid, definitely.

But how it will be related with color theme????
    Taskbar transparent which color?
Related to white windows borders and all white metro menus?
    Start screen with white background???
    Have to change colors where???

Just a messy ugly OS with no relationship with colors.....(example: start screen with blue background, that means blue background to all Metro menus, Windows borders white, and taskbar transparent?????)
Uau..... i'm fashinated of this colors.....
Xp was far far more better, 7 now is the best!!

You are wrong, many will skip it.
W8 is getting worse at almost every revision. Now they have cancelled aero. Read about w8 at the web and you notice that it will fail, many don't like it.

Android's way is the contrary. They improve the UI by using smart transparency effects, which are cool and useful, whereas M$ moves back to the 90s AOL design. When w8 will be RTM'ed they have reached digital stone age.

I expect that every true w8-lover buys the OS and does not pirate it!

W8 is not crap, it's just wrong for a desktop OS. M$ are worried about losing market share so they've developed a Metro UI similiar to smart phones. A big mistake IMHO as it

    1. Completely ignores the Business users. 2. It's not suitable for a desktop.

If having such a UI was really the right decision for a desktop then why are no other manufacturers doing it?

W8 will not be successful. M$ will have to then decide to have a Metro UI for smart devices and go back to a W7 desktop or get out of the desktop market altogether and stay with just smart devices and servers.

This is just my opinion of course.

    I agree with it.
Another reason why M$ has metro UI included could be: windows is the most used OS at desktop PCs. And M$ has no market share at tablets and only a little at smartphones.

To reach a lot of consumers it is clever to have one UI. With windows 8 we will be forced to use metro and since humans are lazy, they prefer what they know already (when thinking about to buy tablets, smart phones)....

Please don't hate it. M$ cannot afford to lose another customer. At least one person should buy it. :D ;)
