Like kicking male asses? For everyone who thinks Metro will suck for people who their PC for work... My productivity got better thanks to it..
Niekess, you have made me curious. What is your productivity? My productivity is focused on a particular application. So I need a fast OS with a FAMILIAR way to handle applications, files, documents, common tasks, etc. Metro sucks big time. I need to work with my PC and don't need folderol
I mostly open up many programs during the time I use my computer like Visual Studio, Skype, Messenger, Webmatrix and more.. Now I sorted these on the tiles on a way I found handful and I find these programs rather quickly now since the start screen is full screen. I just go the menu, move my mouse to the tile of the application and done. In Windows 7 I had to look better to actually find the program I wanted to open, few times it was even hidden in the whole start menu and had to open the folders to find it. Sometimes I even clicked miss and launched the wrong program. Also do I type the name of the program, not much difference in there but yet I enjoy having the better view which makes it faster for me to actually find it. Short said; I can find it easier what I want now the start is full screen and not get distracted by fancy colors of websites or programs when opening the start menu in Windows 7. It doesn't give much advantage.. maybe 10/30 seconds a day but it sure gives me the feeling of it being faster..
I like to have a almost 'naked' desktop. I only have a few shortcuts on the desktop. When I need an application I push start and enter the first letters of the application and start it. When I temporary don't need the application I collapse its window. When I need two or more applications at once I arrange their windows. I use mostly expensive applications which control scientific devices here and at home I either surf, administrate, play, mix music, work at my pictures, program, mod BIOSes, or listen to music..... All things I find metro is not an improvement, and its design is ugly (this is of course a matter of taste), no really it is very very ugly! I find it awful, ugly and disgusting, all in one....
Yea, I found Metro pretty nice so it really comes to personal opinion too. I personally think too that the Metro in Windows 8 is not a great introduction for people who never used this interface before. Got myself a Windows Phone 7 for over a year so I get pretty used to it already, and on Windows Phone 7 it really works awesome (More awesome then on Windows 8). So I think I mostly like because I have used it before, on Windows Phone 7..
i personally hate it as well and as u said about your phone, i believe it was made for mobile devices and fails on the desktop, that is why i'm sticking with 7
It works really well for me with desktop too, no problem with that. What I mostly mean is that I got used to the design pattern of the interface before it came on the desktop, which probably helped me to like it better. However, I did hated the Metro interface with the Developer Preview. I'm glad they made it way better on Consumer Preview and even a bit more with Release Preview now. And yes, I'm sure it was being made for mobile phone but with the idea in the back of their mind to also have it for more products coming. The idea behind Metro is not also just blocky and flat but simple and easy, which they reach by making it like they did now.
And before somebody is stating Yen doesn't like 'changes' when finding metro ugly.... I do like changes even more than one might think. But sticking to M$ when switching from w7 to w8 is like to go from prison to jail, lol.... I love Android. It's the perfect way how innovation has to go and to be. Hence I have an Android phone, of course. Fully customized.
Me 3, Yen. Fancy customising my HTC, please? I have no idea how safe it is to root it, for a lay person... Btw, the proggies I need I anchor in the Taskbar. One click and they're away... Most of what I use is in there - simple... The rest, like you, on the desktop. I find it very efficient, also - after some experimenting, on many OS's... Peace...
I am unfortunately not familiar with HTC, but Samsung Moderator alextheg is. XDA forums are my source no. one. Freedom of choice is what I appreciate, and when one likes w8, why not..... Peace.
Ya, it pretty much sucks. I can work with it and use it but don't LOVE it. And theirs the problem, I'm very windows literate, do IT work... and I don't LOVE it. How do you think the average user will like it? Business machines for the office? Their going to be lost, it's not familiar and too big of a change. MS Just made another ME/Vista mistake but in a new way IMO. The OS may be the most stable and fastest ever, whatever, people won't like it. Best Wishes
When Windows 8 Consumer Preview Released I Download it and Test it for 6 Hours then Return to Windows 7 and my Report was: W8CP Is Ugly, Boring & Miss new Ideas but it its BETA so we cant decide. And now After Using Windows 8 Release Preview for 2 Days I Can say: Windows 8 isn't suck anymore and its simply: Smart, Fast & Elegant I think the RTM will Come with More and More, so lets Enjoy and Discover Windows 8 RP until the RTM Released.
Well i don't know why i'm going to do this, but i am going to try Win8RP for 1 week to see if i can get used to it (seriously i doubt i can!) I'm now making a system image backup of my win7 install, just in case i cannot get my head round metro. So at least i'm giving win8 a fair chance, i'm also backing up cause i have a small ssd, and not enough room for 2 oses, cause it's only 120GB!
I think you're gonna love Windows 8 steven. I hated it at first, now I can't live without it. Just give it some time and you'll have a blast!
