*off-topic* Yep... I've put an i5-750 in when I build this desktop a few years ago. It runs 2.67 Ghz at stock but I've overclocked it to 4 Ghz, running on liquid cooling. Don't need an i7 for that...
nothing but new icons and that stupid framework that make your new hardware looks like an outdated piece of s**t. Thanks m$, to keep the "wheel" running...
If you use 8 or any variant for more than 5 seconds you will understand. Read my previous post to understand why.
Windows 10 = DX12 (in plus) + poor interface (in minus). Windows 10 is no revolution at all. Most features are worthless for an desktop user - Cortana is a joke. GUI? It's like from 90s. Why not stick with W7 GUI with some additions? Aero is still worth the time.
I've used both Windows 8 & 8.1 since their releases. Yes, W8 was not user-friendly, but W8.1 had fixed it a lot.
Windows 10 seems to be more coherent than Windows 8.1. There is not the "badly hybrid system feeling" (desktop like Win7 + Modern UI) and will include performance improvements as Windows 8 and its updates did. I think that Windows 10 is really what MS thought for Windows 8, with some plus because we are now in 2015. Modern UI is not a bad thing and is not limited to Modern Apps, which you can choose to use or not. To recreate the Windows UI is a good thing because "old" interface was a patchwork that only Windows users know how to use. One of consequences of these optimizations should be a lighter OS but not less complete. But some of us think that the RTM will be released too soon and will be too buggy. There is 3 months to MS to prove that they work fast and effectively... ->
Oh yes, it looks awful - colors like from 90s, silly icons and Start menu. So many years have passed and in 2015 Microsoft focus their efforts on making new Start menu! Wow! There are many other things to improve. The Start menu from Windows 7 was already great for most users. Why changing that?
Modern UI is NOT only Modern Apps and a Start Menu! Please keep in mind that the old interface was a patchwork, a maze, and MS is recreating the system interface (and I think that is a good thing!). Flat Design is a style which reflects the sensation of performance which the users want for several years, a will inherited from mobile OS. Even some users found the interface of Windows 7 ugly. That is why there is Deviant Art. Windows 8/8.1/10 can be modified as we make it since Windows XP. Windows never be an interface tweaker's friend. Linux is. You always need to hack some system files to change the interface. And yes, there are performance improvements. Maybe we are not power users to notice it, but that does not prevent that there are.
Is there anything great about Windows 10? NO... Windows 10 needs a Windows 7 rollback theme, and Windows 7 skin for the start menu, than i think it will be a WINNER. Most people don't want windows 10, they want a 2015 version of Windows 7.
Windows 7 is outdated, it needs bringing up to date, a 2015 version would be nice. I hate doing a clean install of Windows 7 because of all the updates, they take hours, so i use Windows Thin PC (Windows 7) only 110 updates.
That can be possible with Modern/Metro Apps. and We'll see the progress of W10 at BUILD. Let's hope, they'll surprise us with exciting UI & features. (I think, I'm dreaming )
Defiling Windows 7 with metro Apps is the reason we got Windows 8 in the first place. Windows 7 in my honest opinion is the best OS Microsoft came out with before it lost its mind by trying to compete with apple and google with an app store.
"Is there anything great about Windows 10?" Yes. I finally came to the conclusion that I make the efforts to use Linux mint as my main desktop OS and w7 will be definitely the last OS from M$. The windows branch is dead. M$ missed to build a complete new OS that would replace windows in the future. All that keeps M$ alive is the monopoly situation, better said the dependencies of customers on their product. There is nothing modern at it. M$ just added stuff which the competitors have already. Another UI, another voice, another browser, another store and they sell it as innovation. M$ is dead, they just have to integrate stuff others have ages ago already...and they do it more badly than well...
It's all about the Phones, Tablets, and money, is it real that hard for microsoft to make an OS for Phones, Tablets, and a real OS for desktop.
