I still have keys from the free technet thing that are still good and they were going to blacklisted to just all talk hotair
everyone is going to have to wait until distribution to customers begins. which isn't until OCTOBER i said that in another thread, but nobody believed me.
Just to get sure: If I disable the Microsoft Update and dont uninstall the 22TKD-xxxx Key nothing will happen right? I have only to wait for a new OEM_SLP Key and install it with slmgr.vbs -ipk new_oem_slp_key ??
I have no doubt that Microsoft WILL blacklist the key. It's very early days, even if Lenovo had installed this key onto a bunch of Machines, they'll just reinstall with the new key. Bit of an inconvenience to them, sure, but they leaked the key in the first place, it's their fault. For all we know, MS charged them for a new key anyway so security will have been increased and such. Not that it matters at all, I'm pretty sure the reason the key isn't blacklisted yet is because blacklisting it would serve no purpose right now. You can't buy 7, so no "sale" has been lost yet. Once MS has the procedures in place so that you can buy a legitimate license from them online, THEN the key will be blacklisted. Popping up WGA notifications right now wouldn't help them.
this blacklisting stuff is exactly why I'm waiting to install until closer to release. Once machines with leaked keys are in the wild, MS's hands will be tied, similiar to vista.
you too! do you even know why there is an update service? hu? have any idea at all??? can it be for the true reason bugs get fixed, security holes gets patched. Can, can it be that? what do you think?
Im an XP-idiot also and i have the cave for several years now its full of comfort and we have windows, anyway those babbeling dogs from minifarm didnt bite yet, with the Vista frankenstein nuker they wherent really fast did take a few weeks o_0
You cannot blacklist a OEM_SLP key by updating the configuration file on their WGA/Windows Update servers. They can mark it as non genuine at wga check that's all. I'M quite sure the worst case scenario would be a non genuine W7, but not a deactivation of it. To disable the key you have to update the validation code of W7. This will IMHO happen (if at all) soonest at SP1, same was FCGKW- at xp (except this was a VLK key)
what do you think will happen to that key within a few days again? security or no security, it will leak again for sure, and fast.
XP is one of the best OS's Micro$oft have ever released. Just because something is old, does not instantly mean it is rubbish. I mean, a genuine Jaguar E-type is ancient, but you will never be able to afford one, really precious metal. And the older they get the more they increase in value.
Hmmm. you DO realize people are talking about doing this for all of like... a few weeks, maximum? they're not out to avoid updates for like 5 years. we're all very well aware of what the windows update service can provide.
No one said XP was/is crap. It's old. Things go on. And sooner o later you have to switch anyway! And obviously you haven't tried Win7 that much. Windows 7 is the best yet.
