    Upgrade with key in OP and then change the key to your genuine one and activate once installed

    Now I am curious, where is it stated that it shouldn't work?

    Arrggg. I have missed that he tries to activate two different SKU's. I thought he wanted activate w8.1 with the w8 key assuming the same version used...


    To activate w8.1 works! But only the same SKU!!!!

    Hmm, I just ran the upgrade from my 8 Pro genuine install and it also only gave the option to keep personal files or nothing
