Yen, Thank you very much! This is just what I needed to proceed. The 'Lenovo way' is not that difficult just a little tedious. The first thing I did was follow the intructions with the example you gave and when I saw that I was getting the same results as described it gave me the confidence to try my own mod. It also helps that I've been hacking computers and software since 1982 and know my way around a hex editor. I imagine all this would be too much for someone that has never seen hex before. I'm still not sure if I'll have the courage to flash the tablet with the modded rom because the tablet is not mine. I'll ask my friend if she wants to take the risk. I guess I'll also need to read the 'how to recover from a bad flash' thread to see if it possible to recover an x60 tablet before I proceed. Cheers!
If you want I can re-check your mod and pack it together with the winphlash that comes with the original bios and the right settings to flash the mod. You have to make sure to update to the same original biosversion before. Also to flash from 32 bit OS only and to remove all bios passwords if set before. Also background programs such as virus scanner may disturb the flash process. The 'Lenovo way' always worked so far since all the original offsets of the modules are remained using that method. The recovery chances of Lenovo are unfortunately bad / I would say it's almost impossible.
Success! I flashed my friends X60 Tablet and all is well. Thanks again for your help. I'm old school and this is the first time I've flashed a BIOS from Windows. I was really worried because it seemed to pause without activity for 5 minutes just before it started the erase-write-check cycles. The 'Lenovo Way' is a winner!
Well done! Yes, basically I would never advice to flash from windows. But here it’s different and many times confirmed to work.
