BIOS update gone bad Hello: I have (hmmm, had) a ThinkPad R60e. The Slic2.1 modded bios for this specific revision of the R60 is not available on the front page of this thread. After reading this thread (around page 50, I think), I found a member saying that he successfully flashed his R60e BIOS with the R60 modded BIOS. This is what I did, but unfortunately it didn't go too well. I now have a nice black brick which sequentially beeps 1-3-3-1. I flashed the BIOS using the Vista 32-bits dvd, launching Winphlash32 from command prompt. I successfully used this method two other times so far with other ThinkPads. I tried making a MiniCrisis disk with phlash16. I used the Lenovo BIOS file and the .bak created by Winphlash, renaming them appropriately bios.wph. My USB crisis disk boots and loads the bios utility automatically, when in another computer, so I can confirm that my disk is working. Unfortunately I can’t make it to work on my R60e. I tried booting with the crisis disk plugged in and holding the Fn+F, Fn+R, Fn+B and Fn+Esc keys, but I can’t seem to get it to work, both with the battery connected and disconnected. When I do any of these key combinations I don’t get the beeps and I can see the USB flashing for a few seconds, the USB light is then steady on and nothing else happens. The computer won’t reboot by itself and trying to restart, doesn’t solve the problem. I left it there for over 30 minutes the other day a nothing happened. I can confirm that there were no BIOS password setup on my computer prior to bricking it. Would any of you have any ideas as to what I should do to revive this machine? Thanks , all your suggestions are greatly appreciated.
By flashing a R60e with a R60 BIOS you've brick your laptop. There is no way to recoverver exepting removing the eeprom from motherboard and flashing it with an eeprom programmer. No luck.
With the modified X41 BIOS the error 2010 is gone, but activation of Windows 7 also. Seems that the ACPI SLIC table is incorrect - see KB942962 @ MS. So I had to go back to the original BIOS :-(
