Basically the original SLIC2.0 will be renamed to SLAC, this is far safer. Yes you are right. Just run winphlash as instructed and flash BIOSMOD_SLIC.ROM. You may check with the SLIC dump tool if the SLIC has been updated after.
Just to confirm that this modded BIOS flashed flawlessly on my ThinkPad W500 (4058-CTO). Everest shows SLIC 2.1 afterwards. Before flashing, I tried the SIM marker way but failed. MARKER.exe cannot even clear the marker, let alone set one. It seems W500 is not flashable by the marker tool. Are there any other marker tools out there?
unfortunately not. I made the update and my SlIC is still 2.0. The Markers from the link above says me, that it is only a SLIC 2.0 Mark and no update will be made.
You need the TP-7L marker part to update the SLIC. I'm sure it's available somewhere already, but not here at MDL so far. You can either wait for it, or try for the mod.
@Yen Thank you for the new X200s Bios. I made the update and it works. It updated my slic from 2.0 to 2.1.
Thank you Yen! If anyone has flashed the bios using the mod for T61p from the post #1, could you upload the TP-7L SLIC 2.1 marker file to the collection? Thanks so much in advance!
Hi, I've tried to flash the sl300 bios to my sl300 and I can't because it winphlash64 gives out the following error: Corrupted interface descriptors in the new BIOS file. Part Table Signature not found in the Interface. Error code: -161 The bios in the list is v1.24 and there allready is a version 1.25 available (also modded) which gives out exactly the same error. I've tried flashing from DOS with phlash16 but that also refuses to work. What now? Am I a complete ass for not understanding something? Or is the bios image not ok? Patrick btw. this is the 1.25 I tried: and this is the 1.24 from the list I tried:
Lenovo SL300,400 & 500 Bios Flashing I am using v1.25 on my SL500 32bit Windows 7. When I had to flash the bios I MUST do it with Vista 32bit installed therefore I use an extra drive with Vista on it. First, I flash to normal v1.25 using the Lenovo CD (made from the Lenovo website bios image). This is done for safety. Then I flash using Yen's update. Afterwards, I verify the activation in Windows. Next, I use the SLIC Dump Toolkit to double check activation looking for all green. On this forum 64bit OS is NEVER recommended because of the risk involved. BTW Vista can be installed from a 4GB USB flash drive to a hard drive in 7 minutes ! I myself am getting tired of making DVD's anyway. Most importantly, I have had excellent results with Yen's biosmods. However, at the same time I must be willing to accept responsibility and to do some extra work if something goes wrong. So far the rewards have always been sweet ! Sincerely, Maru_7711 Addition: On the SL500 "ATK Hotkey Driver" must be installed on Vista or the Winplash bios program will not run. I am not sure about the SL300.
First of all, I did the regulair update from 1.24 to 1.25 on Windows 7 x64! And I've been flashing bios updates and mods on x64 windows versions for some time now. It never failed. So, to sum up part one, 1.25 the regulair edition allready is flashed on my laptop. Secondly, installing Vista on my laptop to flash my bios? Sounds like something that shouldn't be needed. The Lenovo flashing utility itself works like a charm on x64 (doesn't flash a version that's allready flashed!) and I've mentioned as well that the modded bios versions I found also don't flash with the DOS (phlash16) utility too?! Therefore, the problem doesn't seem to be x64 (phlash64) related to me. So, anyone? Usefull tips? I don't find the suggestion that I should install Vista x86 very usefull myself. Thanks and sorry
Hoppaaaaaa I found a better way I downloaded the Bios flash cd image for 1.25 from the Lenovo website. I extracted the boot floppy image from the cd image with CDmage1-01-5 I opened the boot floppy image with PowerISO I copied the FLASH directory from the boot floppy image to a dos bootable flash drive and I booted that on my SL300 I did ... cd flash aflash3 $0a6a000.fl1 (with the modded bios file from 6auj15us_OA21_MOD2.rar) I lety it flash and rebooted. I ran OpaTool_v0.5.exe and selected the IBM_LENOVO cert, inserted the key and voila Windows 7 x64 professional is now legal without the hasle of installing Vista x86 first. Mind you, I'm supposed to get a free upgrade to Windows 7 pro for my sl300 anyway but I hate waiting
