Sorry for the late reply. Lenovo is releasing one biosupdate for different models. Quoting Lenovo: "Drivers and software - ThinkPad T60, T60p widescreen " You can notice about at the compatibility list. They are using one special name. If the bios is named 7iuj15us.exe and is used to be for T60p Widescreen and the bios for T60 Widescreen is named the same, you can be sure it IS the same. Otherwise Lenovo would have named it different. The TP-7I marker isn't available.....I had to use another one. With the right marker you could try the both marker tools to get a persisting solution (would stay even at original bios update). Using a mod now means you'll lose the SLIC2.1 when you update the bios with another original version. The whitelist removal allows to use ANY third party hardware like wlan adapter....not only the 'certified' from Lenovo. Anyway there is still no confirmation of the mod yet. But no Lenovo mod (done the Lenovo way) caused a brick so far. You may wait for confirmation or try the mod yourself......
Is it possible to change the OEM Table ID on my computer from 7L to 7V and then use the 7V's slp2mark.bin and just upgrade the slic 2.0 to slic 2.1 without flashing a modded BIOS or does changing the OEM ID only apply to a bios you are modding because the SLIC table you're adding to the modded BIOS must have the same exact OEM ID?
@ Yen Thank you very much for you reply, Yen! So i will try it and write a confirmation here. Would be happy to finish it today and that i can help others with my confirmation afterwards. That i would lose the SLIC 2.1 when updating the BIOS with an original one i don't care, because the one i have is allready very new and i don't think that i will need a new one next time. But i have some questions before: 1. You wrote, that you had to use an other marker. But the BIOS itself will stay the same? What would be the worste case if the marker doesn't fit this BIOS/machine? Could i flash the original BIOS afterwards? Is it supposable that it will work with this "other" marker or is it just a airy assumption? 2. If it works - is it a solution that i can count on to work for ever? Or is there a good chance that i will not work anymore by some updates by Msoft? 3. I am not that used with BIOS. I flashed originals BIOS some times with bootable CDs and it worked good. Could you send me the link to a good and up-to-date instruction? What i found is older and not that clear. I would be happy to get answeres to my questions - and if it will be promising and i can find a good guide i will do it. Greetings and thank you for you effort Sonstiger
Woho, a lot of questions... The OEMIDs of Lenovo bioses are specified at the bios. Exactly at one of the BIOSCOD modules. Lenovo specifies them. If a model is using the 7L ID it will use it all the time. To change it means to use a modded bios. To use a modded bios means to flash it. Short answer: No, it's not possible. You must find your marker if you don't want to flash a mod. 1. If you mean the bios with all its original features, yes. It will work as usual. The marker is just a part of the SLIC (Software Licensing Internal Code). It has no function, but to activate an OS. I could use any SLIC I want (from any OEM like Asus or Dell). You would just need another certificate to activate. The worst case is like all worst cases when flashing a bios. It could brick your laptop.... This means you have to try to recover it. The chances at Lenovo aren't good, but ausdim already has had success. The worst case is that you have to send it to repair...this may cost some money...sometimes much money..more than actually W7 is worth.... It's not about if the marker is working or not, it's about a bad flash. If the marker isn't working it happens nothing, but W7 remains un-activated... 2. Since it's a dynamic mod IMO it will work as long the OEMs are selling pre-activated machines..basically 'forever'. And yes you can any time flash back your original bios to get the 'original' state. 3. I provide any mod with the proper flash tool. At Lenovo I suggest to flash from 32 bit OS, no background programs running, best with a fresh reboot done right before. Also the original bios (same version you want to have modded) should be applied before! Basically you just need to press the flash button and wait.... At Lenovo the chances are very high to flash successfully.....no brick has occurred before. Ausdims brick was self made....don't know what he did, but it wasn't a mod from here..he later applied my mod and it worked.
Sorry for the repetition, but since no one has answered yet... 1. What is the point of modding the BIOS? Does it enable overclocking from the BIOs? 2. Will the G530 MT 4446 BIOS work with my G530 4446 36U? Thanks.
It worked for me! I have SLIC 2.1 ... Thank you very much! Where can i find the right key and certificate now and which tool i use the best? Greetings Sonstiger
Reporting in. Flashed BIOS successfully for T61P . My heart can stop trying to jump out of my chest now. ^^ Thanks a lot to Yen, Ausdim, and Chaddawkins.
Same here. I've tried to modify TP-7L bios using "Yen's Lenovo Way" tutorial, but result is not the same as in post #2. Large block (at least module #04) is different, but should not. "New way" tutorial seems doesn't work with 4MB bioses. Would anyone please let me know, what tool used for that bios?
