Hi, I recently updated my bios from R250Y0 to R270Y0. With the new bios my laptop fan spin constantly so I want to go back to my old bios R250YO. I cant find anywhere the R0250YO bios to download it. Does anyone have the R250Y0 bios for my laptop? Is there an easy way to flash it?

    Thanks a lot

To downgrade should be possible using original flashtool. Where to find the bios is the question.

Sony VGN-FW140E got the integrated graphics card the intel one. My laptop got the ati 3470 that is the difference I can see.

I think sony uses one bios version for the whole FW series. Anyone that can confirm this?

I'll do more researches, but Sony would have used another name for the bios then .......I guess it's the same....

I compare both 270 versions. If they are the same, the 250 are same, too.

Could you link to your latest bios? Then I can compare it with latest VGN-FW140E bios.

The VGN-FW140E file is named AIBSYS-00209762-1020.EXE.
If you use universal extractor you'll get EP0000209762.exe.

EP0000209762.exe is the same file as yours! I did hex comparison and they matched exactly. Means the R0270Y0.ROM are both the same bioses. I guess the 250 are the same then, too.

Get the packet. (extracted EP0000209762.exe) from my link above.

You may edit the flash.bat to:
    AFUWIN R0250Y0.ROM /P /N /E
Save it, copy mod R0250Y0.ROM to same folder and run flash.bat.

What I did I replaced R0270Y0.ROM with R0250Y0.ROM in the extracted EP0000209762.exe. Do I have to edit the flash.bat to:
AFUWIN R0250Y0.ROM /P /N /E and then run flash.bat? Do I have to run flash.bat in windows or dos environment?

Yes, it's made for win environment. Make sure no background program (virus scanner) is running. I suggest a fresh reboot before you flash to make sure nothing is opened.

Sorry Yen to bother you, I didnt understand this part 'You may edit the flash.bat to:
    AFUWIN R0250Y0.ROM /P /N /E
    Save it, copy mod R0250Y0.ROM'

The flash.bat is used to flash the bios.
    It runs originally the command:
    AFUWIN R0270Y0.ROM /P /B /N /E

You have to copy the modded R0250Y0.ROM file to the same folder.

Then you can open a CMD window as admin and run: (go to the same directory)
    AFUWIN R0250Y0.ROM /P /N /E

    or

right click flash.bat-->edit (do not open it)
    Edit it to
    AFUWIN R0250Y0.ROM /P /N /E
save the flash.bat and double click on it.

I changed flash.bat and then I double clicked the flash.bat. A window like a dos windows pops up and then closes rapidly and thats it.

Then either it didn't find the bios or you have to run flash.bat as admin.
I'll make the archive for you ready to flash. Then you can try again.

I 've just run it as administrator but I 've seen no change.
I also doucle checked the flash.bat editing.
Probably I got it wrong I doubleclicked flash.bat and not afuwin.exe.
Which one I have to click?
