>>What tab in Everest are you looking at? RSDT or SLIC? Those two must have matching oemids and XSDT if there is one. If they are different then maybe mod did not work so OEM dell disk will not auto activate. I was looking in the SLIC area of Everest. It had three separate listings of "TOSIV", but not the expected "Dell". This is my first attempt to mod a BIOS and I knew it couldn't be that easy.
You probably mean TOSINV, which is oemid for Toshiba that somehow was selected instead of DELL. Try to redo the mod selecting DELL as a Slic.
Hmmm. I did it multiple times, selectine Dell each time. I'll try the original Award tool and see if I have any better luck.
Xp slic on phoenix I modded a Phoenix bios and had vista on this machine, I downgraded back to xp media center. it is telling me to activate. The cd is HP oem which worked successfully on my laptop that was modded by a modder. What did they do differently that makes Xp media center oem cd work with that, but the mod i did works for vista and not Xp MCE. Can someone tell me how to add the SLIC for xp to a Phoenix bios? I am lost here.
After you open the BIOS in PBE, one of the window that opens up is called DMI Settings. Change the values there to HP or Hewlett Packard
Yes. The OEM SLP1.0 activation needs NO SLIC, but a string....... Just edit one of the DMI entry to HP PAVILION or Hewlett-Packard. The easiest way to do: Get winphlash. Open PHLASH.INI with notepad. At section [UI] delete any entry, except Advanced=1! Save the changes. If there is no [UI] section, add it like: [UI] Advanced=1 Now run Winphlash. You will see now all the advanced options. Specify your new biosfile and press advanced settings button. At flags check verify block after programming for safety. At DMI choose update DMI and the bios (renew DMI) or DMI only if you have applied a SLP2.0 mod already and you just want to add HP string. Go to category Motherboard and edit at Manufacturer the string to what you need. Now update the bios............yes Winphlash is able to edit / update DMI Also you can try to use PBE as Regina suggested: But don't forget: To update DMI you have to use Winphlashs' advanced options, or phlash16 with /mode=3 switch.
