From where does Windows 10 get info on which items should be provisioned? Is it the AppxProvisioning.xml "ProgramData\Microsoft\Windows" ? That same directory has AppRepository that upon installation is filled with SQL database files, which can be edited to make ALL AppX's remove-able through PowerShell. I've already done that, but that directory is empty up until the installation. That means there is a file somewhere that contains that list of AppX's Windows 10 is going to install.
this is how i have finalized lets see how it will work. i have also deleted all metro apps [A] Microsoft Biometrics deleted Microsoft Connect App deleted [C] Microsoft Maps deleted [D] Microsoft OneDrive Desktop Client deleted [E] Microsoft Telemetry Services deleted [F] Microsoft Skype Video App deleted [G] Microsoft Xbox & Gaming deleted [H] Windows Contact Support App deleted Windows Cortana & Search App deleted [J] Windows Desktop File Explorer App kept [K] Windows Embedded Features kept [L] Windows Geo Location deleted [M] Windows Home Group deleted [N] Windows Mixed Reality deleted [O] Windows Quick Assist App deleted [P] Windows Take Test App kept And from advanced apps panel [1] Adobe Flash For Windows deleted [2] Microsoft Edge Browser App kept [3] Microsoft Hyper-V kept [4] Microsoft Internet Explorer UI kept [5] Windows Defender kept [6] Windows Manual Setup Feature kept [7] Windows Media Player deleted [8] Windows Store Client kept [9] Windows System Restore deleted
I want to remove all Xbox apps and all apps but the Store app, I think. How can I do that? I thought that by running that PowerShell command all Xbox apps would be removed...
In MY experience Quick Assist, and Take Test serve no purpose, but if you keep Windows Store Client, all your Metro Apps will re-downloaded. Also, why would you remove System Restore? It is very useful.
i have never used system restore before because it was useless i dont know does it work in windows 10 or not take test does what? i havent found yet okay i will remove windows store client as well
@MSMG could you make an option to mount only install.wim without mouting boot.wim and winre.wim? Those two are not needed unless integrating stuff right? But it takes longer time to mount and un-mount because of them.
[J] Windows Desktop File Explorer App what does this do? - A Metro version of Windows File Explorer [K] Windows Embedded Features what does this do? - Embedded Features include Custom Logon, Shell, Device Locking [N] Windows Mixed Reality what does this do? - Holographic /Virtual Reality App [O] Windows Quick Assist App what does this do? - Metro Version of Remote Assistance App [P] Windows Take Test App what does this do? - Take a Test is an app that locks down the PC and displays an online assessment web page [6] Windows Manual Setup Feature what does this do? - Files need for In-Place Upgrade/Install Windows from Windows Explorer
Then What I said earlier was correct : 1) Remove All Apps Except Store, this will retain these Apps Store (Microsoft.WindowsStore) Store Purchase App (Microsoft.StorePurchaseApp) Desktop App Installer (Microsoft.DesktopAppInstaller) Xbox App (Microsoft.XboxApp) Xbox Game Overlay (Microsoft.XboxGameOverlay) Xbox Identity Provider (Microsoft.XboxIdentityProvider) Xbox Speech To Text Overlay (Microsoft.XboxSpeechToTextOverlay) 2) Use the Manual Command I had said earlier to remove the Xbox App (Microsoft.XboxApp) 3) The rest of the Apps left are needed for proper Store functioning and I'm still testing whether I can remove further those dependent apps and right now you can even remove the Store Purchase App (Microsoft.StorePurchaseApp), if you aren't going to purchase any App from store.
Didn't you read the Toolkit changelog for v7.0, I have merged the Windows Content Delivery Manager with Cortana & Search App.
Who said retaining the Window Store Client will re-download all the removed Apps, I haven't faced anything as such.
Thanks for reply. Your right, i think i was blind. Is there any technical relationship why you did this?
