I don't understand your first paragraph at all. congrats to those who used the ??old dx9?? from msmg?? build new image because current is useless? so folder perms + protected view are screwed on _what_ and _since when_? i had just built a couple of computers using 7.1+built in dx9.. am i screwed?
Yes you are... at least if you used the dx9 package from MSMG. The faulty/bug has been there for quite long time now, it has been reported several times, i reported it myself a couple of times and i was always ignored while the package was still uploaded on the official links... Maybe you didn't notice but if for example you try to open a network shared doc file with Office you wont be able due to protected view permission bug caused by the dx9 package, and as Supern00b said, there are also other issues like folder permissions and such... very annoying; another example, try to copy any file you have on the desktop to C:\ , you won't be able, permissions bug. etc etc About Supern00b he was just being ironic, he means if you used dx9 package from MSMG you better make a new ISO without it or u are screwed.
I've had experienced the protected view issue, but i didnt know of other folder issues. But my word... how the heck could this been left there for SO LONG and only know we start to realize its due to directx. what has DX to do with protected view and folder perms, i dont see the relationship at all.
I can't really explain how but it does... it is about the way the pack is created, and when it gets integrated i guess it populates wrong folder permissions to subfolders, starting in root directory (aka C:\)
I take it that the best way is to NOT integrate DirectX 9 and NET Framework 3.5, but to install them after installing the OS? Are there really no custom packages that can be extracted? What about the HOLO-related stuff? Even if you remove all Store AppX's and Store, many Holo-related folders remain. When integrating drivers, do you have to put them all in one folder? Many items have INF files that point to a sub-folder. DISM++ can export drivers in folders that look like this "heci.inf_amd64_b029e08ef3dd5b21" If I place all the drivers I want into "Drivers\Install\w10\x64" directory with such folder formatting - would MSMG integrate them properly?
The /recurse command browses all subfolders in the used driverfolder. I think MSMG uses it together with /Force Unsigned
yep quetzalin finally now I discover because when working with Word and make copy/paste including images (images not copied) so I need reinstall several times and NO luck thanks a lot dude including Supern00b still my current O.S. I forget integrate dx9 package lol
I have removed separate menus for each editions and made a common menu for removing components and so choosing some components may give the component doesn't exist message but if you choose Remove All Components it will skip the component based on the edition. Which component are you trying to remove?
Checked with TH1 Cumulative update integration it's giving error at near 98%, don't know why it's happening need to further test.
Just moved the Xbox related apps from "Remove All But Store" Menu as someone requested it and now you are asking it to move back into it, what should I do ? If each user asks like this then I have to do like this : Remove All Apps Remove All But Store & Store Purchase Remove All But Store Remove All But Store & Xbox
Don't move it back, if somebody needs Xbox app he has the choice to not remove it, right? And try to release that GUI Toolkit soon which will allow you to maybe please everybody because it will be possible to select each app to remove or to keep. I don't know why you still on this current toolkit instead of spending all your time on the GUI so it can be released soon.
1) Mixed Reality Portal is new addition to List so I haven't added the word App to it's menu - Xbox & Gaming contains the back-end packages for Xbox App - Windows Defender contains other Packages which are not App (W81) - Even the Store Client in Advanced Menu is the back-end for the Store App That's why I haven't added the word App to it's menu. 2) If you want remove the Xbox totally then remove it both Remove Default Apps and Remove Components. 3) Removing Edge or Defender is not causing any issues here I have checked and if you get any notifications regarding Smart Screen then you can turn it off from Control panel -> Security and Maintenance. 4) Someone requested to make the Mounting Windows Setup Boot Image (Boot.wim) and Windows Recovery Image (WinRE.wim) optional so it will reduces the total time to select the image as only few people might use it. So I have put a question whether to mount it while selecting the Windows Installation Image (Install.wim) 5) I did forgot to remove to word Xbox from "Remove All Apps But Store" Menu for RS2, will fix it.
It's not that I did ignored anyone regarding the DirectX9c Pack bug but instead I had thrice re-created the pack - First it was to correct the folder permission bug which didn't allow to select the folder properties security tab - Second with Direct DISM Capture Method - Third to fix the Miss-matched Index Few members reported about the issues with Office-Protected View and Folder Copy Errors, But I couldn't replicate the error coz I was not getting any errors related to folder permission here And regarding Office-Protected View error on network shared office files, I couldn't test it as I was using a Standalone PC. Since, I was too busy and not well from long time, I had to postponed the task of re-creating the packs and so removed all the packs which where causing those bugs but I did forgot to remove the DirectX one as I had bundled it with the ToolKit. People who had any issues due to the DirectX9c Pack do kindly excuse me and I will replace the current pack with the AeonX Pack in the next version.
- Many Packages are bundled into main packages which can't be removed using the DISM command, you need to manually remove them. - Just copy all the drivers folders into the "Drivers\Install\w10\x64" and the ToolKit will integrate them.
Since RS2 was released and people where expecting a new version so I had to release a stable version for RS2 Yes, I will be taking a long break for sometime for working on GUI version,
Yes, the condition which checks for the existence of a Servicing Stack Update have been removed to allow RS2 WHD Updates Integration and it works fine.
Ok, thanks! I just can't find Windows SmartScreen in Security and Maintenance after removing Windows Defender and during the Windows 10 setup it says an error has ocurred. I think it has do to with the removal of the some component (or components) in the list since this error message doesn't appear if I only remove apps. My Action Center is full of messages regarding default apps, which is very annoying. I can't shorten my Start Menu after removing the bugged tiles. Only if I terminate explorer.exe. Finally, when I chose the Remove all alls but Store and Xbox it removes the Xbox apps!
