Why don't you clean install using the modified Ent ISO? Is there any concrete reason for installing untouched Pro, Ent and then upgrading using Mod Ent ISO? And @MSMG Does feature updates like RS3 or Insider preview builds reinstall the removed packages using this tool?
Is it UAC or Microsoft-OneCore-AccountsControl-Api-Package, you are referring to, If it's UAC then I don't know what the Package name for removing it. I don't think Upgrading from One build to newer build of same Edition won't create problems but for different Edition I haven't tried it so far using a customized Image.
Yes it will restore everything you did removed/customized. And also, with the recent RS2 CU, I'm noticing that some package files are getting restored partially like their resource files when installed on a Live System but I haven't checked with the Image
UAC. Also, can I configure Google Public DNS, disable AutoPlay and notifications (under control panel and settings), change the width of the Start Menu, remove the bugged live tiles, disable a service, change a setting in gpedit.msc, disable apps from running in the background, disable Location, Diagnostics, Relevant Ads, Speech Recognition and the other option that appears during the install, remove removable drives from file explorer, choose what appears in Start Menu (document shortcut, settings, etc.) and change the power plan settings as well as what happens when I press the shutdown button, etc.? How can I add an app (in my native language and not in english) and remove the Win32 calculator? If I do this using an already MSMG ToolKit customized ISO will my new ISO be much bigger than If I do this with an untouched ISO? I don't want to download an untouched ISO and do that whole procedure to have it only in my native language... The apps' download links aren't working.
Great - thank you! I did, however, find that removing registry for some of those prevents the clean installation from completing. I think it may be the App Readiness package because, for example, none of the cumulative updates successfully apply on my PC unless AppReadiness service is enabled... What I am mostly after removing whichever package deals with GameDVR, GameBar, Game Mode, GamePanel, etc. I guess I need to somewhat start looking within the packages themselves using a default image and searching for package names file by file. You were correct about the SFC ScanNow - it actually restored several packages that were successfully removed by MSMG Toolkit, such as the Microsoft.XboxGameCallableUI_cw5n1h2txyewy , but why? I thought that if you remove the package with DISM or MSMG Toolkit or WIM-Tweak, then SFC ScanNow cannot make it come back. Cortana, once removed, does not come bac, but XboxGameCallableUI does... About NET Framework 3.5 - I just realized I integrated it, but I never even bothered creating the folder for it - is there one with x64 3.5 package already present within MSMG Toolkit somewhere? I did exactly as you said, but without NetFX35 folder ever being created during the entire process of image editing...
I have had great success in customizing everything I want, cleaning mounted image with a batch file I wrote, then the very LAST thing I do before committing, and unmounting is integrating the .NET Framework 3.5.
I can't get the program to work. Whenever I try to remove any of the metro apps I get "Error: 6" If anyone could help me out, that would be great
OK, looking through WinSxS for folders that contain files with GameDVR is not helping because the folder does not correspond with any package names... Also, when I removed these with MSMG Tookit: I opened the Mount folder to look at how the mounted image changed and the files for those packages remained in "Windows\SystemApps" as did registry entries correlating to those packages... - Is there a way to get a list of files every single package is responsible for? - Is there a way to make SFC use the MSMG'ed image as the source for its repairs? - Why does SFC restore some DISM-removed components, but not others? From what I remember, there are policy settings for it that can be changed. - Microsoft told us they've gone Open Source, so why isn't all this info I am looking for available?!
- Can MSMG Toolkit integrate Edge into the latest Enterprise LTSB? Does it have to be the 14393 version for the 1607 14393 version of Enterprise LTSB? - Should we include the WSUSSCAN.cab from the latest MSU files when updating images with MSMG Toolkit?
Huh? That makes no sense because the update will add all that stuff you removed during your first run of changes.
You are right, I tested again and also get same size as you, no idea what was going on yesterday but it tricked me to think that the issue doesn't happen with NTLite. I even tested two times yesterday and the size was not 29 GB. Yes that works, and you don't need DISM++ for that, just run the command in CMD as MSMG explained. Code: DISM.exe /Online /Export-Driver /Destination:<FolderPathToStoreDrivers>
When integrating features like NetFX35 and Edge browser into Enterprise LTSB edition, should it the appropriate versions of those features be used? Enterprise LTSB is still 14393, so I assume I need RS1 NetFX35 and MSMG Toolkit will select the 14393 version of Edge?
Hmm... Can LTSB version of Enterprise be cut-out somehow? I guess the branch is specified during installation? Otherwise it makes no sense for it to have AppX's it is not supposed to have...
Every iso has a sxs folder, it contains the ondemand pack for dotnetfx3. I really don't get why you want an, as small as possible, iso but you want dotnetfx3 pre-enabled. Pre-enabling dotnetfx3 will increase the size of the install.wim/esd/swm, it's normally automatically installed by software who needs it, or just enable it after install is finished. Only for insider builds it's really needed to pre-enable because on them dotnetfx3 can't be enabled after install.
The size no longer is of concern after I learned of WimLib. What I now want to know is whether it is possible to select LTSB with Edge integrated? Does LTSB prevent all and every kind of Store/AppX from being used? Can't I just install Edge.CAB 14393 file after the install? Does LTSB preserve these: Microsoft-Windows-Security-AADBrokerPlugin-Package Microsoft-OneCore-AccountsControl-API-Package Microsoft-Windows-AppReadiness-Package Microsoft-Windows-Client-AssignedAccess-Package Microsoft-OneCore-CloudExperienceHost-Package and other XboxGameUI one?
You use wimlib imagex for compressing the install.wim > install.esd? It will only give you a few MB's smaller esd compared to using DISM for compressing wim>esd.
