I think I figured it out. Issue was removing advanced components (either/all: Windows Defender, Windows People Experience Host, Windows SmartScreen) before cleanup. If I don't remove these components, after integrating netfx35 re-applying cumulative update works fine without any error. It's said in readme "Note: If Windows 10 Redstone 3, Remove Windows Defender, Windows People Experience Host and Windows SmartScreen Components at last." but I am not sure if it means removing those components at last in context of that step (before cleanup) or beore applying image and rebuilding... Basically, if I follow these steps, there is no error but I am not sure if it's correct order and more issues may arise after installing these images (Haven't tried yet): Delete all indexes except Pro (8-1-3) Load images (1-1) Integrate WHD updates (Cumulative, ServicingStack, FlashPlayer) to all images (Install, WinRE, Boot) (3-4-2-1-3) Remove all Metro apps except Store and Calculator (4-1 one by one) Removed all Windows Components (4-3-1) Removed Advanced Windows Components: Windows Cortana & StartMenu Search App (4-3-2) Remove default metro apps association (5-3) Tweaks - disable cortana, auto driver updates, auto 3rd party apps (5-5) Cleanup image (6-1) Integrate NET 3.5 (3-3-A) Integrate Cumulative update again (3-4-1) Removed Advanced Windows Components: Windows Defender, Windows People Experience Host, Windows SmartScreen) (4-3-2) Apply & Save (6-2) Burn ISO (7-1) Changed steps are in bold. EDIT: updates fail to install even after following these steps. At any point when I remove windows defender/people experience host/smartscreen, integrating and/or installing updates cease to work and throw 0x800736b3 error.
The components like WindowsDefender, SmartScreen, PeopleExperienceHost and also several other components not in the menu uses the ToolKitHelper.exe and the ToolKitHelper.exe has been coded based upon the Windows 10 RS3 10.0.16299.15 image. The ToolKitHelper.exe has to be updated every time when there is a new Update/CU in order to remove the updated components too and it is not a easy task. If you Integrate the updates after the removal of the above Components and then Integrate the updates, do cleanup, Integrate .NetFX35 and then re-integrate the updates for .NetFX35, it works and even if you integrate the updates at post-install stage too it works. But one downside to this method is that integrating the updates after the removal of the above Components can restore some files/folders/keys. Whereas in DISM method the DISM will remove the updated components too along with the base components But the above components are not available for removal using the DISM method and also you can't have functionality protection of shared components or split the component removal.
I can't modify windows 10 enterprise LTSB with the latest toolkit. I keep getting the denied or file does not exists when removing components? The one that works are v7.7 and below.
Hello dear forum users!!! That is, first need to remove these components: WindowsDefender, SmartScreen, PeoopExperience, and then already integrate the Cumulative update. Thank you very much, I'll try now
