Not Working: - Convert Edition. - Integrate Metro Apps. - Integrate WinPE Language Packages. - Remove Windows Components using ToolKitHelper.exe method (Defender, SmartScreen, PeopleExperienceHost).
The most time consuming thing is updating the ToolKitHelper.exe to support RS4 as I need to use a MUI RS4 image to prepare the data since we are using the manual method for removal. Once the proper RS4 build is released with all LP's, I will start the process of updating, it can take a week to code and test it properly for any issues.
hoping to see "- Remove Windows Components using ToolKitHelper.exe method (Defender, SmartScreen, PeopleExperienceHost)." for the initial version but of course your health is primary. thanks for making our lives easier.
Me too, but before (when using the previous MSMG ToolKit in RS3) it didn't appear in the Optional Features list also and now it only doesn't appear in the Start Menu. If I try to remove it I have an error and each failed attempt appears as an entry in the Optional Features history. I also have something called OpenSSH Client which I didn't have in RS3. I'm using the 17134.1 Build.
When working with image: "win8_en_windows_embedded_8_1_industry_enterprise_x64_dvd_2710518" The option 4,3,1 - remove all windows components, does not work in versions 7.8 - 8.3 it just outputs: "The Windows Package Doesn't Exist..." I just kept trying older ones (from your archive folder) until I got to 7.7 which worked. I knew to go with an older version because I have successfully used this in the past with this same image I have a newer winows image, but I did not want to use it because it has an included windows update that interferes with some of the older apps I use. Thank you for a great tool! I appreciate it!
Really, I don't bother anymore with non-LTSB releases. The 6 monthly upgrade process is hardly error free, brings back a whole lot of junk again including metro apps. It's just not technically feasible, let alone the 3GB+ download on a slow connection (South America). The Windows.old folder is never correctly deleted (on purpose I presume, to facilitate a rollback) so it occupies a whole lot of disk space. Maybe some more technically oriented people would manage these two yearly upgrades with ease, but if your expertise is in another area you would soon be surprised why Windows became so slow and bloated over time. As I work in IT I've never before gotten so much cleanup to do. I can perhaps imagine an update every three years as it is LTSB, it would not bring back a whole lot of junk and would not dramatically change the way Windows was setup previously. The average user just want things to work when they turn on their PC, without having to wait at "Getting your PC ready" for an hour or "Don't shut down your PC" when you finish your day. Cheers.
I always run the latest greatest IP build as my Main Drive converted to ProWS. I never have any issues. I wouldn't even think of running an OS that was rarely updated.
That argument doesn't count at all. LTSB is updated monthly, you're not missing out on any of the security updates. Strange you bring this up as you should have known that already. Anyway, you guys are technically involved so yeah, no problem with that. But the average user may be a lot less tech savy, I've still got corporate clients doing online banking from XP (Have since cut off the internet but just to illustrate). Cheers.
I did, but I was speaking of cumulative updates which involve system modifications, and enhancements.
Working on the 2016 LTSB using v8.3, I don't see the option to rebuild the source images in [6] Apply. Cleanup [1] and Apply & Save [2] are both done, but can't find the option to rebuild source. I'm assuming I am doing something wrong. Thanks for the help
Did you check it after first applying or discarding the currently mounted wim(s)? You can only rebuild not mounted images.
