MSFT is not going to release any new ESD for RS4 ;) (only when it's time for the release of the refresh media) It will be a CU at the most.

PS, compressing install.wim will have the same effect as simple rebuilding, but it's not serviceable when it's install.esd, that can be done when you're finished servicing.

    That's what i meant, refresh media with CU's :)
Well, i broke something else then, because when i was testing it on VMWare, it wasn't booting after the first setup phase ("rebooting in 10 sec."). Gave me only an unknown error.

Edit: the new 'lite' version works fine, 1.92 GB ISO. Thanks for the info!

The problem with LTSB is that Windows Update in this version sucks. It takes a lot of time to search for updates and when installing a Cumulative Update takes centuries with high CPU usage even after a clean installation with an updated ISO... In RS3 the update process is much faster.

Hopefully in the next LTSB/LTSC version they fix it.

You're right, the whole update process takes a lot of time.

Searching for updates takes like 5-8 seconds for me until it shows the results (latest updates integrated before the clean install)

Of course it takes some time installing/integrating updates since the size of the CU's is already over 1GB

Hello guys, my first post ever on MDL,
I would simply like to know why MSMG Toolkit v8.3 does not offer the "remove telemetry" option anymore ? I tried my best to find before asking but I still have no idea ? What am I missing ?

You're not missing anything, telemetry removal was temporally disabled on RS3-RS4 Source ISO's because the ToolkitHelper is being updated.

I added a cumulative update just prior to the latest one so that Windows Update finds some update to install and I always have the same result, high usage cpu on just searching for updates and some delay to find. Maybe after the first update this changes but with the RS3 already in the first update everything happens normally, find updates in less than 10 seconds.

Why are Toolkit-modified images inconsistent? I repeat the same steps in the same order and the WIMs are always different.

This statement is so ambiguous. Could you be more descriptive?

That's because it doesn't need to be any more specific. It's a general finding. Repeat any modification on the same source while following the instructions and the file hashes are never equal.

I don't remember if I mentioned it, but if you disable Optional Features (such as Work Folder Client, XPS Viewer, etc.) and language-related text prediction features in an offline image via DISM++, you can further rebase the image and the wim file size will be reduced further. Since I do not use any of those features, except for NetFX, I disabled them, and my final ISO size was about 200MB smaller. Could disabling those features be integrated into MSMG Toolkit?
