hi, i am using my iso build 1809 with everything removed so far so good bugs: yes this is known for everybody, cannot use any browser as default browser black screen after setup, after selecting keyboard lang, user name, cortana crap, then it goes to black screen, not a big problem, just control alt supr, and that is all
You need to use the Windows Component to remove the components unless you have the proper package list for RS5 and for RS5 most of the components specified in the menu doesn't have the package names In your case the list you have given is wrong Code: Microsoft-Windows-ContentDeliveryManager-Package Microsoft-Windows-OneDrive-Package Microsoft-Windows-PeopleExperienceHost-Package Microsoft-Windows-QuickAssist-Package Microsoft-Windows-LockApp-Package Microsoft-Windows-RetailDemoContent-Package Microsoft-Windows-SecureAssessmentBrowser-Package Microsoft-Windows-SkypeORTC-Package Microsoft-Windows-ErrorReporting-Package Microsoft-Windows-DefenderApp-Package Microsoft-Windows-XboxApp-Package Microsoft-Windows-XboxGameCallableUI-Package If you source is Windows 10 Redstone 5 (10.0.17763.1) English-UK / English-US then just use the Remove Windows Components -> Windows Apps Remove Windows Components -> System Apps Remove Windows Components -> Advanced Windows Components This will remove all required components including Defender completely.
The HOSTS file issue is not related to ToolKit as I read it before on other sites that the MS has made the Windows 10 HOSTS file to be read-only by default. This means that even if you can access it with administrative privileges, you still cannot write to it. You need to change file permissions and write the content and then set the permissions back.
Copy the RS1 store and related apps files to <Packs\Apps\W10> folder and use the Integrate Default Metro Apps Menu.
Need to check the IE and Edge component which shares the few packages, will try to fix the issue in next update.
After removing the UAC with a previous NTLite version (that didn't support RS5) I could edit the hosts file without changing the file permissions first. How can I fix the latest CU install issue in WU after integrating the previous one and the latest SSU with MSMG ToolKit as well as after having removed and configured some things with it? Also, can I download the apps from your MEGA folder and manually install them and if so, how? Right now, the apps don't work as well as the start menu no matter what I do and I don't want to do a clean install. EDIT: I might have made a confusion after all with the hosts and hosts.txt files since if I'm not mistaken I added some lines into the first one after opening it with notepad and after saving them it asked for a name (I didn't change the default one, hence the hosts.txt name) for a new document and after I selected the default one it created the mentioned hosts.txt file. Will these new entries work or only the ones in the original hosts (the one which doesn't end in .txt)? If not, how can I save the changes in the original hosts file without creating a new document? If they work, should I keep on doing changes in it and delete the original hosts file? There are files which do some changes in the original hosts file to block some website's access and don't create a new document. How do they do that? EDIT 2: Forget it, I just unchecked the read only tribute (I don't know if I should've done that) and did some changes with notepad (without running it as an administrator) and it didn't ask me for a name for a new document. Maybe that person made it not read only by removing the UAC with NTLite's previous version but that doesn't make sense. Anyway, how can these files do some changes to it when it isn't read only and why don't these tutorials tell us to uncheck this read only attribute? So, it looks like it has nothing to do with file permissions after all.
Windows Update Driver Install is a known issue Can't test the Nvidia driver install as I don't have a system with Nvidia GPU Explorer Keyboard shortcut (Win+E) : can you post the screenshot of error message.
I do have the StartMenu freeze issue only with LTSC and this happens sometimes even with a untouched image for me, need to further test to know the reason. One thing I found in upcoming v1903 is that the MS has separated the StartMenu part into SartMenuExperienceHost. Did you used the ToolKit's Integrate Apps menu for integrating the Store?
First Logon Animation can be removed through component removal or disabled through a tweak. In the readme.txt itself I have sepcified that I don't provide support/compatibility with other Tools similar to ToolKit since each tool work differently. For NTLite, it uses a special setting to know whether the components have been removed in the image being used and may be that's why it is showing up like that. First Logon Animation is not just a tweak but it's also a component C:\Windows\System32\oobe\FirstLogonAnim.exe
But this is ToolKit thread right and the ToolKit doesn't offer to remove the UAC yet. Do integrate the updates after the removal stuff or skip the updates and the use the WU to install the udpates. Yes you can download and install the Apps manually, the ToolKit needs to be updated to fix the Apps integration for x64 image.
What tweak is that? Can I use it in MSMG ToolKit or only in the current install? I don't know if NTLite's free version can remove the component but to remove the First Logon Animation completely should I use MSMG ToolKit or just set it off in NTLite (or keep it off after removing it in MSMG ToolKit)? I use both tools since there are things that can only be done by the other tool and vice-versa. What do you mean with it not being just a component but also a tweak? At most (in my opinion), it is a setting/function and a component and it can be disabled through a tweak (or NTLite, maybe) or removed through MSMG ToolKit's component removal. But that doesn't answer the question about having been removed by MSMG ToolKit and still be possible to set it off in NTLite. Ok, but like I said I have to use both in order to do things the other can't and even after using just the MSMG ToolKit (the previous version) I also had the CU install problem that comes since RS4 after integrating the previous one and the latest SSU and removing and configuring some things in MSMG ToolKit. I want to install just the latest CU through WU, not installing it without having integrated the previous one and the latest SSU because I'll have this situation in the future and I want to have Windows 10 updated (even if the latest CU isn't installed) and I won't do a clean install each time a new CU is available so I can't do what you are suggesting that is skipping the updates and install them later through WU. If I integrate the latest CU and SSU now I won't be able to install the new CU when it is out since I can't install the latest CU now after integrating the previous one and the latest SSU like I tested. But I was talking about reinstalling the apps in the current install. EDIT: I can remove the OneDrive and Internet Explorer components with MSMG ToolKit and NTLite's paid version (in Internet Explorer's case, there are two Internet Explorer components and both may be removed by the free version) paid version but there's a NTLite setting regarding OneDrive which is available in the free version and if I remove OneDrive with MSMG ToolKit is it possible it is set off in NTLite by default but being able to set it on in it just like the First Logon Animation in NTLite after being removed by MSMG ToolKit? In Internet Explorer's case there are settings in NTLite (in the paid and free versions) which are set on by default (I think) even after removing Internet Explorer with MSMG ToolKit (I think). If they weren't set on by default after removing Internet Explorer with MSMG ToolKit is it possible to set them on?
