Off-topic question if you don't mind, what is Microsoft Consumer Services? I see an option in Group Policy Editor which says Disable Microsoft Consumer Services and was wondering what it does or if it has any negative impact on the functionality of the OS.

Also what do you think of disabling File History from the Group Policy Editor? I heard Microsoft were supposed to completely remove that feature in RS5 but they didn't? Do you think that if I disable file history it would affect the Windows System Restore in any way?

Microsoft Consumer Services : It's mostly related with could content displayed on Lock screen, that's what the MS info provides.

MS usually say they do remove the old/classic features in upcoming builds but instead they just do disable them with no support or further development for them.

File History only backs up your personal files. Programs, apps, settings or Windows installations cannot be recovered with this app.

I'm not sure whether it's required for System Restore as I don't use either things, just need to try out.

because i can't locate the search function for the thread,
    how are these apps removed?
in what way will component removal change after 19H1?
    what changes should we expect?

The Apps are removed manually by modifying apps XML files/registry entries and deleting the apps files/folders/registry entries.

Right now my focus is on RS5 bug fix with support for all languages and also to restore RS3, RS4 support.

Can't say anything as of now as I may take some break for some time before updating the Toolkit for RS6.

    Dear MSMG!
Why waste time on outdated versions of RS3, RS4, which live the last days?

Old versions of the program work normally with 2015 and 2016 LTSB. The new version of the program should work with new releases of windows. Why keep compatibility with old versions of windows when there are old versions of the program for them? New in these versions of windows will be nothing.

and frankly bugg fixing will take less efert than adding new features after msmg's break, rs6 will have settled down a tad me thinks so msmg fresh from his halt will be able to delv in.
    or am i incorrect?
he does need a break :)

well i hope rs6 wont have that many changes, because each time the toolkit gets stable, a new major version gets released.
