I have asked this before, but I didn't get an answer so I'll ask again. How can I add a new app to my windows image other than the default ones ?(so that I dont have to download them each time I do a clean install,which can be quite frequent in my case). Like, e.g., Telegram Desktop. Sometimes I'll also have to add default apps like groove, OneNote and sticky notes again becoz usually, I go with the "remove all metro apps" option. Could anyone pls give me some pointers plz. Is this question already addressed b4? I don't know. There are about 500 pages for this thread.
Actually your question has little to do with MSMG's toolkit. But it has been asked before in this topic. You can add apps to the image or the media you're using (be it USB or DVD or similar) and do these install tasks by means of a setup complete script, or firstlogon commands. MS has this documented. Personally I would not add them to the WIM, only to the install media. Cheers.
Thanks for the reply. There's still something that I didnt quite understand. In MSMG toolkit Download folder theres a txt file called "GettingApps ". Were you refering to this documentaion?. Anyway most of the things I need is in that folder next to it, namely OneNote,Sticky notes, Photos and Skype. But however, I still need .appx or .appxbundle file for Telegram. How do I get it?
You mean the metro apps? You want to add metro apps other than the default ones? If so, MSMG does not currently provide a method for that. If you are using a non-LTSB/C/server version, it would already have the (default) metro apps. The apps you see in the folder are for use with LTSB/C/Server versions that have no metro apps by default. MSMG provided them to add them back. You can find a link for the ISO with all the apps here on MDL. Telegram doesn't have a metro app (appx) afaik. It's just the common desktop installer. That's why I referred to firstlogon commands and setupcomplete.cmd. Cheers.
How do you add Photo Viewer back, I inadvertently removed if from my image and would like to have it back without doing a new image and reloading the OS. I thought that option meant the new Win10 photo app not the old one.

Seems a bit unreasonable since a lot of us are still waiting for a functional toolkit for version 1809. Besides that, I don't think msmg has ever supported previews. Cheers.
I can not change Setting/Default apps/Web Browser to chrome or firefox. I did not remove internet explorer, cause i did not see any options in toolkit to remove it. But i can not find IE after install windows. How do i fix it ? P/s: Resize toolkit window and i can see all options, very long list.
How do I remove using this tool, the option takes me to customise? Also where do I get XML files and driverpacks from, thanks. Tool definitely seems useful for sure.
Previews will never be supported. They change drastically the entire time in development, and as the case of the last 2-3 releases/builds they get yanked from public and re-re-released.
Hi, I'm new to this and need some help: I used the 9.1 Toolkit to make a bootable USB based on Win10 x64 1809 Education edition. All good, except: 1. MS Edge opens then closes (I've installed Chrome) 2. Any setting comes up as a blue box and eventually closes. #2 is important in that I want to set default apps, install security updates, etc. Nothing in what I removed would seem to affect the settings menu, but it has broken it. (Maybe "settings sync"... but why?) Ok so you chop nearly everything that can be chopped and then ask why it doesn't work? Chop less and you may end up with a workable image. Cheers.
I'm working with 9.1kit, and the most recent iso provided by the media creation kit. Everything worked for me, settings wise, with me leaving the quoted applications/components in. It's very possible that the file explorer might fix your edge and system issues, as it's heavily integrated into both, as in the edge download interface, and the ability to load settings from files/default applications. Food for thought.
Well i test installed the iso made. Was no errors However cortana was still there even tho I set to disable, in addition it was in my face. Activated on the initial setup process. Also how are people using the remove function in 9.1 version of this tool when me and another user clearly showed it not working? is here a solution people are choosing to not share? On 8.8 it works, but on 9.1 it doesnt yet people running 9.1 seem to have it working, is there a mod or something to fix it?
Developer, you are need to add option to remove "windows 10 activity history" and "Timeline" , because it's upload to microsoft, and you can't disable it use options in windows. It's upload all your activity in windows, all your links from your browser, names and screenshots of your desktop, etc.
Well, isn't that the whole point of this Toolkit; to "chop" out all the MS "garbage"? I want a small, fast, bootable USB with a Stable Win10 install. Hopefully all will work with the next release.
