This should explain the difference in the number of handles between version 1607 and newer builds. Thanks for the tweak I did not know, I will test as soon as possible
That's what I will do. I will do one last test with Win10 1809 and the tweak on Svchost that @Yanta mentioned but at most I should get the same performance as 1607 (LTSB 2016) so I will probably go to 8.1. If later I will go back to Windows 10 I do not know, who knows. Every day I think differently

Or should I also do cleanup after integrating the updates, immediately before removal?
If you are integrating updates and then removing, then you can perform cleanup only once at the end. I didn't used the cleanup with my test since it takes time to complete and also for W10 v1903 the cleanup was having issues with recent CU's, I don't know whether it's been fixed or not. Most of the System Apps you are getting errors in CBS.log
With the latest 18362/3.356+ updates there was no problem anymore, after running an online /startcomponentcleanup, it installed .385 and .387 without issues. But always be prepared to have the FIX ready
So the method I used was the correct method? I did not do any cleanup until near the end, before applying the changes etc. I do not know why I still get SFC errors when using a method I assume you approve of. The only difference I can see is that I am not using Pro image, because I work with Enterprise image.
I tried that tweak too, i found it with winaero tweaker and it does help. I posted a handle threads and processes grab at the other place, and they are way below ltsc fettled and kludged. Compare them to a default ltsc install and its very bad. Cant remember if i took the numbers for 8.1
Well here I am using the 3 systems and after several tests and benchmarks there is no doubt Windows 8.1 is far superior although its UI be say not very beautiful although the AeroGlass helps greatly to improve it this way every time I start the machine I have the options par at the moment and updating as needed only my 2 cents...
Less visual effects the better for me though ive got a 3rd party 7 theme that has w10 thin borders and a dark wallpaper. Classic is awful but i can shutdown dwm service for maximum gee gees With the savings i got on the 7 grab a few posts back i can afford to have aero glass running while keeping handles threads and processes at very acceptable levels.
