@Yen Hi I'm very happy that you return but unfortunately I have one sad news we lost fantastic Chuck Berry @90 here one singele reverence to it
Hello Tiger-1 Many things seem to have happened...I heard from that sad news when I was right back....thanks for the video. All here is still a bit foreign, takes time to be fully back....
Wow, what a phenomenal experience you must've had visiting those countries. Was it your first time visiting that region? I've always wanted to go there. Did you visit Wat Pho in Bangkok or Angkor Wat in Cambodia? You should make a new thread sharing your experiences.. This song is for you, Yen. Pysch rock straight outta Thailand. These guys are becoming popular in the West and even playing in the US this summer. Khun Narin's Electric Phin Band:
Thanks. Yep I know favorite places like Wat Pho in Bangkok or Angkor Wat in Cambodia or the mystical Ta Prohm there.. Bangkok is mostly unavoidable when going further to other countries by plane. It's good for a visit one time but Bangkok is shocking....it's loud, chaotic traffic, has a lot of smog and stinks at many places... in the meantime I try to avoid it. I travel to S/E Asia (and Indonesia) since 1998. Since then I love it. Actually I've been to many S/E counties there except Myanmar. I go as backpacker and like to interact with people and culture. I also like quiet beautiful and simple places to calm down.....and tracking through nature. There were days when I simply did 'nothing' but to enjoy the moment....or sleeping outside in a hammock with all the natural sounds...or joining the monks alms round.... Besides of all the impressing cultural buildings and temples and the amazing nature the actual 'phenomenal experience' is your awareness of being that raises along with joy when you stop to feed your mind with 'common' thoughts/things (news, TV, internet, relations to things at 'home') ......and that is why it takes time to come fully back to here.... BTW: I have posted some pictures from time to time at the 'The photography thread-Exciting Places of the world' thread, but will soon post new stuff. I can highly recommend to visit S/E Asia and to interact with the people there...it will change the way you're looking at things...and you will rethink what's actually important in life.....you will experience real joy.
@Yen: Welcome back. The people there are really nice. My cousins' wife is from Thailand, and both my brother and nephews have visited SEA. Since this -is- a music thread, here's my excuse for posting. Hope you like it
Thanks for the info and for sharing your experience, Yen. Your descriptions of enjoying the moment and having awareness of being are Buddhist principles, and even if a person doesn't practice that religion (but practices those principles), they'll be in greater alignment with their surroundings in that region (and anywhere). I've traveled to many countries, but the only time I've visited "Asia" was when in Turkey, and that's nothing like the S/E region of Asia. I'll check out that photography thread. I've never looked at it before so I missed your earlier posts. Your descriptions just reinforce my desire to visit there, so thank you again Yen!
