It is Not necessary to rename the file, the tool will mod it as is.

That means it is a probably Phoenix-AWARD Bios.
Which really means Award, (Phoenix Corp. makes Award Bios)

    I have a BIOS update from Compaq/HP for a mini pc 700ef.

    From this SP45107.EXE file, I extracted 2 files using winrar : 361A0F15.exe and UCORESYS.SYS

361A0F15.exe is the bios update, by running it in windows you update the bios (done successfully). In fact this exe file contains AFUWIN v436 and the new BIOS compressed.

Do you know the procedure to extract this bios for modding purpose ( I tried universal extract without success) ?

The two easiest ways are :
    1. Run that .exe but don't let it flash and get the Bios.rom from your temp folder used by the .exe.
    or
    2. Run that .exe Sandboxed with Sandboxie and extract the Bios.rom from the sandbox.

    Hi,

I have an ASUS P7P55D-E motherboard and could not find any reference to a modded BIOS or even if hacking it would work.

i downloaded the latest BIOS from Asus website and updated the motherboards BIOS, then i use the AMI tool to create a BIOS version that contains the SLIC information.
so far there have been no error messages.
ive ended up with this file: P7P55D-E-ASUS-0806_SLIC.ROM
which i now need to flash.. but am very very hesitant. ive never tried anything like this before.
can anybody confirm what im about to do wont brick my motherboard?

some help to make sure im pointed in the right direction would be very much appreciated..

Providing you have modded correctly then it should work.
If you run into problems post back and someone is bound to help.
Also avoid upadting the bios in windows

    Hi AndyP!
Your tool is very helpful! But I have one suggestion, if you will. Would it be possible to include such a function as RW report file loading, as it is implemented in Phoenix Mod Tool? I don't know why and what for it is done so in Phoenix Mod Tool, but the AMI BIOS Tool could do more accurate and MB specific (fine-tuned for the specific system) mod if the RW file is taken in account. RW file could serve as a reference or a base template for how the specific BIOS should be moded for the specific system. I do understand that it could be very tricky to do, but anyway...

    Regards
