WZor posted a message today (first in a pretty long time), said they have MAJOR problems and that he cannot tell the details. Now their forum is shut down again, and no one knows the details.
Oh. THAT does not sound good. Hope its nothing that will have him in big trouble. I wish him good luck with whatever it may be. Thanks for the reply. By the way, the sign by that lady on the main page of that site "b3opa het" Do you know the translation for that? I couldnt figure it out
If you transliterate it into latin it becomes 'Vzora net' / 'Wzora net', means 'No wzor' in russian. It's a mockery of soviet grocery stores, and also a play of words.
So to those, at least one of you, that have the Consumer Preview (beta) how do you feel about it? Do you feel different about it from when you used the Developer Preview? Do you have high hopes or are you leaning towards many who havent yet tried it but think its doomed to fail?
I have removed some characters which might be the reason for url redirecting problems. If you still have problems in accessing one particular page, please PM me by naming the page and the thread. Thanks.
Yen, idk maybe its to early, but what about closing this thread and start a new one with the Consumer Preview one? Or we better wait an than at the end of february we open a new thread? Maybe we need a thread where we just collect our information about Windows 8, no double posting about the ame, just a Windows 8 facts thread and no discussion in there, so we get everything we want without looking page by page! Just an alternative!
Yeah, I said that before, and I think too that will be better to close this thread and wait for news about post-beta/RC. You can see that there's still someone trying flood/spam this thread, so I think it's better to take a holiday. Just and idea.
I've installed the DP on a SSD and got no boot screen at all. I think that this is an attempt to speed up the boot process to squeeze out another second. If Microsoft sticks to that, they'll probably keep the current one and hide it on ARM- and SSD-systems.
I believe they announced this. It's like that on the build tablet, it just shows the Samsung logo booting into the OS. The boot-screen will only be used for the desktops that boot slower.
I always disable hibernate with powercfg -h and I will also be disabling hybrid hibernate/boot...I can care less if it takes a few more seconds to boot up
Never ever encountered the issue of not being able to see pages *** and up. I just use Palemoon browser (tweaked firefox) Builds 9.1 and 3.6.29. No need for chrome, no need for IE (with the exception of stupid BF3 requiring IE [bad bad bad bad EA] ), no need for opera.
As I noticed in the Developer Preview : - when you shut down the PC, Windows 8 closes your apps, then saves itself or some data to a hibernate like file (during a black screen), so it can load up very very fast, and so, cannot boot on USB drive or DVD (that's how I noticed that), the PC reacts like if it was put in hibernate mode, but very quickly, as it only saves the necessary files Windows files and drivers. - when you reboot the PC, Windows 8 closes fast, then boot a little bit longer than when you shut down the PC, as it have to reload everything. - thus, hibernate mode does not exist anymore, as "Shut down" mixes both methods.
It has been a strange issue. And I also have had it one time. It affected page 419 at this thread and another member had reported page 409 at another thread. I don't like random issues, I have to keep an eye on this. Right.
Yes it does now. I am watching the issue. It seems it affects either pages which are the second last (now we have 421 already) or / and pages whose thread titles contain special characters which are used to be a part of the url when redirected. I have removed them. It could be a pagebreak issue as well....
