AMAZING! Thank you. Is there any talk of torrenting or otherwise sharing the build on soft-forum.ru? Or can you even tell, assuming you know any russian.
I have this crazy idea that there will be win 8 home edition with metro and pro without metro. me I don't think that metro has a chance no one like me will like it. that would make imo make M$ keep fallback/real-windows mode forever (that would be the right thing to do). but anyway please don't slam me for this thank you. (btw don't comment on this part just comment on the first part of this post i.e the top)
No way , the main goal is to force everyone to buy a touchscreen device, just like with Vista it was to buy a new graphic card and memory plank, lol. Thus all three editions (Home, Pro and Ult-aka-Ent) will have this normally unusable ugly green metro as default, and switching to normal desktop will remain as uncomfortable as now. Remember, win8 is feature-completed and now they work only on minor inner items, so don't expect anything new in Beta and RTM, regardin UI and usability, just get used to all exciting features of the upcoming best OS ever and save money for one of future Ivy-Bride monoblocks, as far as home-made desktops and separate system blocks in general are set to become "retarded"...
I think 8 is not feature completed. See, they are still adding features (metro colours) and at the moment this is just milestone 3. I think feature adding will stop at beta1. So we can hope new features to come (and that would be why microsoft wants to prevent leaks : they don't want their awesome features to be disclosed to rivals).
Wouldnt even windows 8 Beta have the same feature that the Developer Preview has, to de-activate the metro start menu via a registry tweak? I have done that on my WDP version.
The registry tweak doesn't work any more on the latest builds, so it should be a no-go for beta. But I guess you may be able to use the 3rd party software "Classic Shell" and get the XP-StartMenu.
I also wish to add that the file shsxs.dll is not present any longer in the later pre-beta builds, since most(if not all) tweak apps on WDP works on shsxs.dll, so don't expect them to work on the beta.
