You can as well create a thread for Cortana for Windows, if it is not already created. I think Windows being the platform for Gemini to be incorporated as an app needs to be well addressed to meet all this wonderful Apps coming to Windows 9 next year. I am so naive at times I have to wait not to speculate to my friends what these Apps are all about during our discussions.
Yes... wasn't expected to be a riddle, but you will find out Anyways, you will not leave MDL and not be infected by the smelly Ballmer-Virus
Nah, this one is even further away, win9 is now about M2/M3, and Cortana might not even appear in beta(next year).
If m$ will disable the charms bar in Windows 9, how can we share apps contents ? because the share possible via charms bar.
Agree on this one. Also what "leaks" or specific information can we expect for Cortana? "She" will just get less and less dumb, well - maybe some Apps with Cortana support..
I thought Cortana is old hat avaliable on windows (phone) since 8.1 already....they just port it to w9...
- Beats me LOL. - Maybe in the next World Cup, you could ask again for match results, and decide if she is less-and-less or more-and-more dumb? You know about these develop things much much much better than me, Yen.
The charm is still going to be available in touch-based systems. You are not going to have it in desktop in Windows 9 and that is where you are going to have that little problem of using the Windows 'charm' for the routine process it is meant for in Windows 8.1.
Well .. worldcup was basically the Bing prediction engine and not Cortana. What I want from Cortana first is to understand what I am saying - THEN we can talk about the AI to interpret my words. Must be because I am from the countryside - voice-recognition usually is a pain for me ,,,, lol
Cortana is indeed an app for both WP and Windows 9. The server-side stuff and core app (UI etc.) can be easily ported, but the OS integration needs to be done separately.
I thought Neowin said cortana would be available in Threshold RTM, but it might not be available in the Preview.. (I'm not entirely sure though)
I have seen Cortana built into Threshold with my own eyeballs. www(.)neowin.net/news/windows-threshold-cortana-makes-a-step-forward Obviously they could pull it but with builds 98XX, Cortana is in the builds. Remember, Cortana is just an app, it can be added or removed very easily.
some old build strings of Threshold: 6.4.9786.0 (debuggers(dbg).140629-1340) 6.4.9786.0 (winmain_prs.140629-1340)
I think 140629 means its compiled on 2014/06/29, maybe 13:40, and the digital signature timestamp is 2014/06/30
I believe someone mentioned that the hidden Cortana in some builds can be enabled by simple registry change, if its hidden this way in the public preview, hopefully someone can find out the reg hack.
Yeah, NaiveUser, you unlocked the hidden features in 7850, if the Cortana files were in the preview, you would be able to perform it again(hopefully).
