It's happened in the past most definitely, sometimes small features and sometimes big. A great example feature is within Windows 8, remember that awesome littler user tile on the taskbar? A number of news outlets reported on that feature and it ended up being removed way before a public preview.
So I may assume that you yourself have the builds in your own hand or physical access to them, otherwise it wouldn't be true what you say...since you would rely on statements made by others. The problem is when having own builds you are tied to NDA. That means those who are able to post real info actually must not. We had the same problem with windows 7 / Vista. We had members who had real access to current builds...
True, Yen, like I said before, those who have builds, the deal is no web connection, and keep their f**king mouth shut, only exception (AFAIK) is Brad, but only limited to descriptions that he could see "with his eyeballs". ..... btw, guess you probably know who's that new guy "location: Japan"? (edit: I don't know, don't ask me.)
I am sorry that I have to jump in at this point in time. I am not doing that to disagree with you in any way. My idea on this very issue, regarding Windows 9 being security tightened against leaks, is that there is no forthright information available at the moment than speculations. Even those within the comfort of the walls of Redmond cannot provide any information that would jeopardize their employment. That for me is doing something for their own safety, after seeing what happened to French Alex Kibkalo in the past. If we are to go with your view on the user tiles on the Taskbar (I can't remember any though)in Windows 8 and are purported to have been removed by Microsoft. Of what benefit to Windows if most of those things reported online are removed? Like the Start menu, removing the Charm bar, bringing in Cortana to Windows 9,etc which are vastly reported on online. That means there would be nothing left for Windows 9 to add to make a difference.
You didn't get what he was trying to say, he didn't say that MS removed the taskbar user tile just because every tech news website reported about it. What he was saying was that every tech site posts about the upcoming features & stuffs that the current Windows Vnext builds have at that point of time, sometimes those features gets removed...sometimes they do make it in the final version of Windows. That's why he said "Oh of course, we always add a disclaimer which says that everything written about the article is correct at that point in time, however things DO most definitely change" And taskbar user tile was indeed present in Windows 8 builds before the developer preview...here's a screenshot:- If you know about the development of Windows Vista, you would see that a whole lot of features & designs were removed from it before it was released. There are several reasons behind removal of features in pre-release versions of Windows(stability issues, poor design choice, etc.) Just relax, MS is not going to remove Cortana or the new Start Menu just because tech news websites reported about it Oh & Alex Kibkalo is not French & he did not get in trouble for leaking pre-release Windows
Speaking of this user tile: I guess this was removed because it was just kind of a "placeholder feature", a little thing that fills the gap until the real implementation (that might depend on some other feature) is ready. In this case, this other feature may have been the Start screen. Now this thingy on the taskbar allowed them to test the functionality of the user tile without a working Start screen (and Charms). Because, with all the Metro stuff in the works, I doubt that they really made this to stay on the Desktop. Or remember that little Charms menu that replaced the old Start menu in the Developer Preview? Just another placeholder until the real thing, the Charms edge UI, was ready (or they didn't have a clue for a solution yet).
I'm tired of continuing to explain myself. If it wasn't clear enough, my sources know about Windows, they work with it and around it. Microsoft has many employees spanning across different things in the Windows branch. That is all.
Okay. You also misunderstood my post a little. I never said he meant the user tiles were removed in the actual sense of it. I even used the word 'IF' that precludes the conditional clause that follows to detail my view on that very notion. That's a reply along the line of my explanation and it didn't mean anything more than that looking at what we were speculating on. I never said Microsoft was going to remove Cortana though. That was a reference to support my opinion on that very part of my statement and it didn't mean I have no ample information regarding Windows as well. Well, I thought Alex Kibkalo was a French national. However, I would be very much interested to know about his nationality. Above all, I share his views as well as others who are posting on this particular thread.
I'm not sure but there's a download link to 5 million gmail users supposedly... If anyone from google is reading this, you might wanna get the authorities on that immediately. I will have no part in that, and I suggest that none of you do either unless you want to risk hassle by authorities.
Five days to go on WZor's speculation on the Windows 9 Technical Preview. I hope we are getting the leak as forecasted on his twitter page. P.S: I have been able to find the origin of Alex Kibkalo. He is from Russia. Thank you for that point.
From what some new articles mentioned, it seems to be Gmail data acquired by phishing (no data breaching), with most of the accounts being unusable. Should probably take that with a grain of salt though. 2-step ftw
Alex Kibkalo is Russian and he seemingly leaked parts of the activation server SDK for windows 8 and builds of post w7 branch. He passed the things to a French blogger who started here @MDL to post info about M$ OS development and who later had even an own forum. Many other sites copied and pasted his info. When Kibkalo has been arrested, the blogger vanished also. As mentioned already the dilemma is the NDA. M$ is the only ‘authority’ and hence the only one who has the right to publish info about their development. Strictly seen to post about info, about current development state is a violation of NDA, also when there are friends working with the new builds and saying a word about... The coolness to be able to post about 'win unleaked' info did not last a long time....
Do you mean there is a discrepancy on the numbering or that's the one you received? The one among the others I received earlier in the August Update 2 is KB2975719 and It keeps coming back.
