I guess the left side of Start Menu (programs) is the replacement of Apps screen, and the right side (tiles) is the replacement for Start Screen. so, they are both in the Start Menu.
There were a lot of under-the-hood changes in win8. It wasn't all cosmetic. They did quite a lot of things that make for a much faster system if you are using newer hardware. I wouldn't 'trash'-talk this new OS before it has a chance to show people what it has. Honestly though, this is just win8.1 with a start menu mod. They are going to make a lot of changes before release.
totally agree the windows become fast and better just saying the UI wont go back to like win7 and maybe metro will be better then normal win7 desktop in time someone knows what about server ? is there gonna be new server ? based this kernel
the question for me is: will my adobe cs5 suite and all other apps still run on win9? some software was expensive, you know. also I have serious doubts about the security, as we learned in china win8 is already forbidden for government use, and reagarding all the us-nsa spy stuff I suggest making windows more cloudy is a full frontal heading into the wrong direction. companies won't use it if it takes that way. still no need for tiles on a desktop, but that's my personal oppinion.
^^ CS5 is a relatively new app and a 64 bit app is a 64 bit app therefore I would say it will run fine. As far as anonymity that is a personal task. I am not a terrorist and therefore the nas should not be knocking at the door any time soon. As far as M$, google etc. having all my personal info including credit card data that will never happen as that is the gold cow just waiting to be hacked for bragging rights. The cloud should not be called a cloud but store all your data on our hard drive because that is all it is. I would say your personal data online should be much more secure than behind your own firewall . Regards
ever heard of human rights for privacy? that's the worst argument for overruling privacy, sorry I'm not a terrorist too and even 99.9999999999% of the human beeings worldwide for sure ain't , not even potentially. still it's a question of respecting each other and keeping up democracy, but let's keep on track.
Of course it will run your older software! And about your security concerns, China isn't a good reference, MS is very serious about protecting customer privacy, they are actively fighting orders to release customer data. Besides, when was the last time Jennifer Lawrence's OneDrive pics leaked?
microsoft is also scraping content as google does, so any uploading or permanent connection should be established by agreeing terms! not autoconnecting, scraping, and serving related content in adventisements, that's a bad trend, as the data is used for a very personal profiling. I know most of the people don't think about it. but it's defintely a topic that changes the society of our future.
That is what you got from that? You seem to be worried about your privacy, learn how to protect it do not blame the OS. Regards
It really depends if they try to force the cloud integration or leave it optional. In win8, it's optional. I'm guessing gov'ts didn't want any secret backdoors on their government systems or something. After learning about the NSA modifying routers and usb cables, I can't say I blame them. As long as you disable the skydrive stuff, there's really nothing personal being sent in win8. They have Mark Monitor name servers on their activation systems, but that logs everyone's IP, not just pirates. Honestly, I share your concerns about privacy. I wish they'd knock it off with all the online integration when they don't need to use it.
We give them a hard time because of the skype fiasco, but I cannot imagine another large company on Earth not being subject to their government's whims. I can guarantee you that Apple, Google, Facebook, Twitter, Microsoft, and any other software company that deals with a certain amount of personal data is getting bombarded by secret court orders and meta data collection. I honestly wouldn't be surprised if the NSA didn't catalog every bit of text in every email sent these days. What was that Snowden encrypted email they shut down? Lavabit, or something? The one company that won't comply would rather shut its doors than take on the entire U.S. gov't. It's really out of control these days. I swear, the country elects sh**-kickers and we get this behemoth data sponge. It boggles my mind.
