most amusing will be the winers crying for "old" W8 with Start screen et cetera. Many ppl now adjusted to the new way of using windows and now they make a jump back to W7 like BS ... unbelievable but as you said, it is the way of the world and we need to adopt as usual. OK pruning the Jukebox and get it clean for new files ... lol
Ditto.. Their conceptual design was crap to begin with - if they wanted Metro, fine (I actuallyquite like XAML) but then retain the desktop experience (resizable windows and all that), as for Charms on the desktop OMG! what were they smoking?
@PaulDesmond Truth! Now that everyone was getting used to this new interface M$ going back But doing that, so goes mankind
Is this the Master Plan for "M$ we have to Downsize, so we can give this junk away." Pink Slip time....
I'm still failing to see where Windows 9 fits into this. I've asked around and what I've heard back is that Threshold is the codename for the development of Windows 9, and that Windows 9 isn't a codename in itself. In a matter of fact judging by what I've been told, MS aren't sure about the final name of Threshold, it may not even be Windows 9 in the first place. One thing is for sure though, many sources are still perceiving Threshold as Windows 9, including me. It's what I've heard, so it's what I'm sticking to. It just makes no sense to have Threshold be something other than Windows 9, it's such a big change from Windows 8.1, calling it Windows 9 would be fantastic for marketing. However, I'm not completely disapproving of your claims anymore. It's possible for Threshold and 9 to be different, but it just wouldn't make sense. Why would Microsoft release Threshold and then Windows 9 afterwards? A better question would be, what would be different from the two?
Makes about as much sense as "Free to Windows 7 users to move to Windows 8.x or 9." I only Beta Test this CRAP, don't have to like or dislike.
Nah, there's no point in arguing over this ATM, so why not stick to your believes(that I don't care) and wait for something to come out eventually? In 2011 MS released the Win8 WDP(pre-beta), then in 2012 end-Feb the WCP(beta), so we just couldn't rule out the possibility of same thing would happen for win9, although from what I've heard the chance is quite slim because "there's really nothing to show now". Oh, btw, I noticed Brandon Live didn't make a single remark in the recent "leaked Threshold or win9 details" blogs ...... perhaps it was because his both hands are full palming his face??
Actually, if you knew the correct people you would be able to get a look at Threshold. Let me tell you, there's a lot to see in even the current builds. It's not like Windows 8.x anymore, it's like a new operating system (the UI is currently being updated constantly). It really is magical. I've spoken to people about the recent leaks and they are all accurate with evidence. I've been reporting on similar things which Neowin and ZDNet also reported before they had even reported on it, I believe my source is also pretty accurate. You're just going to have to take my word for it for now though
Threshold or win9 is too far away, I am not interested, please just tell us something about win8.1 Update2, please???
There's a reason we haven't talked much about Update 2, and that's because there's nothing in it. If you're expecting big things in Update 2, prepare to be disappointed. It's mostly under the hood changes and very small UX tweaks. Everything else has been saved for Windows 9/Threshold.
Nah, I am just curious and anxious (like every MDL member) about little things like: status(RTM escrow?RTM'ed?), or maybe one or two build tags, or a bit about "under-the-hood" changelogs .... oh, nevermind. Edit: Oh, tell you what, why not simply start a thread "Windows Threshold is Windows 9 and Will Be Released in Apr 2015"(or something like that)? If the mods doesn't like duplicate threads, I could always request them to lock this thread, just don't remove it so I could refer to it at some point in the future.
I don't think we need to, we're all perfectly aware that this thread is for talking about the next version of Windows. Also, is the thinking that Windows 9/Threshold will RTM in April? It's possible for that not to be the case at all, we could have a Preview in April, with RTM later in 2015. You never know.
