Disagreeing is always going to happen, it is when it is done without respect for all involved (name calling and such) that I have a problem with it.
Microsoft is not going to do away with it very soon until it finds something better. NTFS is still the best out there and it is better than the old FAT/32 system due to its ability to save larger files size. I hope to see ext4(for Linux) and exTFS(for Mac) or compatible file system included in it. That would make the file system in the upcoming Windows completely perfect.

Yes you can, I formatted a drive as REFS once. Then extracted the wim to it, Windows booted and install finished and worked.
