Because in my opinion the windows series 8 is not made for an success. Most people will refuse the upgrade, because it doesn't cover their needs. I observe the market and the needs of people and I came to that conclusion. Besides of that I personally don't like it also. I observe markets, make my opinion and have a look if I will be right. It's just a personal game I like to play. Since I work in a research lab it is interesting to think about what can be the needs of the people, to check if there are supplier already and to think about if there are uncovered needs. The only and major difference is that I develop phyto-medicine, no operating systems. Anyway I have foreseen that Vista will fail, Android will make its way and Symbian and IOS will lose market shares... The CPU architecture from Intel and the combination with M$ OS are simply outdated. Hence ARM on tablets with a modern OS like Android have attacked the shares there. They replaced / are replacing net-books and notebooks. On phones M$ never played a major role. And the one and only monopoly position desktop / corporate OS is in danger with w8 since there is almost nothing improved and secondly it cannot catch up on other modern touch OSes. It is designed to fail, because they did not improve there where they are strong already. Instead of they try to gain market-share where others are far superior already... My 2 cents (again)... Another reason people also arn't upgrading is the lack of drivers.I myself cannot upgrade because HP refuses to make drivers for computers that were manufactured before 2011 as a marketing scheme to make people buy new PC's and my laptop has AMD / Intel hybrid graphics which makes me SOL. Sure there are modded drivers but they just don't work on EVERY model of computer. Windows 8 is truly a marketing bust.
I think the 1st improvement is not always gain the desired results. Touch is the future of computers . If Microsoft continue doing not-touch-friendly OS, they will also lost the market share in PC OS market. W8 is a dangerous move but Microsoft must play it. Try and fail better than don't do anything, right ? (sr for my bad English guy )
