No problem! Thanks a lot! Will now finish it v1.01. I could do that by myself, but UltraISO creates a image that only works with mem command...
Ok! All links updated. Tested to install / de-install, all fine! A: is present, Vista is activated, SLIC not fragmented at wow.img, but compressed in exe, so you cannot hexedit the exe directly!
I say main goal is accomplished. Now lets see if we can stop text output by grub. I put spaces over Starting Windows 98..., that was easy edit: grub is open-source so someone that is good compiling c code should be able to comment out all the printf. edit2: actually grub is in assembly if i remember correctly
It's strange that at my system there is no more output text visible using latest grub, used at Wow 1.01..... Anyway, flagmax, if you need me to test / help I will be there again I now care about bioses again. Have 2 picky ones to modify..... Was a great pleasure to work with you all at this project...... Is it absolutely invisible after editing Starting Windows 98...? Released as v.1.02 as well.
Great job! Well done! But have one question - would it be possible to install our "GRUB" to Vista partition instead of MBR ? It's crucial because in MBR I (and many others) have my own boot manager.
Hi everyone, during VISTA 64bit booting i have an error: Probing ROM INT vectors. If hang, unload a device driver or TSR and try again. How can I fix it? ASUS M2N32 WS PRO AMD 4600+ GF 6600GT 2GB DDR2 SEAGATE 500GB 16MB Cache ATA100 I get this error when I attach hard disk or DVD-R and try to boot Vista with Marvell 61XX IDE Controller. Any help? regards.
I've tried that at my machine, but I've got a write error....if you install grub, original mbr is saved to a second one, the uninstall patch restores the original mbr from the second one, so you have no loss of data... What boot manager are you using? I can re-write the install bat, so you can try it to install to vista partition (first partition of first hd (hd0)), maybe it works for you. Where is your Vista installed?
I haven't installed wow. The message has appeared after update BIOS of my motherboard. System boot & works fine when i attach hard disk to the nVidia IDE Controller. The problem is, that i can't use the Secondary IDE controller (Marvell's). Any help?
Please open an extra thread therfore, because this is off topic here. The easiest way is to flash the previous bios again................
Its not invisible yet. GRUB4DOS prints to screen: Code: Probing ROM INT vectors. If hang, unload a device driver or TSR and try again. 00 01 02 03 04 05 06 07 08 09 0A 0B 0C ..... more bytes Starting cmain() ... qscgu Are you using version WOW 1.01?
Thanks for reply. I'm used to XOSL boot manager and in general I like to have "boot straps" of each system on its own partition. So GRUB/LILO on Linux partition, XP boot manager on XP partition and now Vista on its own. On top of it there is XOSL boot manager. I know I could use GRUB/LILO to boot all systems but... Vista - first partition on hd0 (one and only hdd). But if you have write error it would rather be difficult. Update: Oh, that's weird. I deleted my boot manager and leave Vista's one. So my configuration looks: disk(0)part(0) - Vista disk(0)part(1) - XP // but out of equation, let's say its hidden partition Using AHCI, no floppy device (HP 6720s) if it makes difference. Result: After default wow 1.02 installed (C:\ path), I got no boot: only grub> prompt. What could be the cause ?
This happens, when grub can not find vista bootmgr on hd0. Try type: quit then press enter will it take you to A:\> ?
