No, mbr code at first sector of HD is the first thing bios jumps to. Installing grub here gives it full control which run c:\grldr. Next you tell it to run the floppy. On floppy runs a patch, then runs grub4dos with a different menu.lst that executes Vista bootmgr. Now its a chain.
I now instaled Vista 64, it is much better from 32- really, very fast work. I can try this if, You send me this flagmax' CD / floppy with HP SLIC. I don't have floppy. ps. I tried to activate Viste 64 and a few times I have succeeded, only that the "RW" does not work very well on 64 bits. Yours, admire You for skills
@flagmax Does your prog use always the last call of RSDT to find SLIC, or does it verify the signature 'SLIC' and scan all calls from RSDT to the other tables?
Works great! Had first a old version of grubinst..............grrrrrrrrrrrrr...... Now using ver 1.1 from 01.01.2008! But my floppy is now missing.. Have to modify menu.lst again.......and finally make it invisible
I run as the first CD, and appeared to be nothing more - Vista not start after Only this is shown and it was at this: Code: Starting Windows 98... Probing ROM INT vectors. If hang, unload a device driver or TSR and try again. 00 01 02_
OK, have to try by myself........ never tried the CD, floppy only! Please wait and re-check here again. I have to quit now, but the development will continue........ Don't know if flagmax has tried it already. I've hexedited the iso, maybe this caused the error..... See you again!
Sorry for the delayed reply. I unexpectedly had to travel out of town. I see you have decided to stay with Vista x32. I presume you will be trying flagmax's method. If not, let me know if you still want to try the AutoExNT method. I need to do some catching up as a lot of developments occurred with flagmax's method from the last time I logged in.
@flagmax Yes, you have to make sure to get the latest version of it. Same problem I've got with grubinst. Was not able to install grub to mbr, tried 2 hours till I've noticed that I have tried a incompatible version...... Btw: There is one issue: Vista doesn't find floppy anymore (Drive A: is missing at explorer). Could you please recreate the floppy img with new grub as well? (I'm not at home.......) If it should be still missing, we probably have to add a map --unhook or some 'unmap commands' to your menu.lst before it boots Vista. Thanks!
Regina... PLEASE...... I don't know now, which method I have to do.... now, I don't know nothing... I stand in one place and waiting, what You think out(?)... I just want have my vista be active... not matter, if it be vista 64 or 32... help me with activation and i will be the happiest man on the world PS. maybe You suggest some way to active and give me tip how to do that and all need files. PPS. Do You working about "normal" .exe activator??
No that was just a pre-test! So it works at 64-bit OS!!! That's great! One more question: When you open explorer, can you access and see your 'physical' DVD /CD rom drive? Just insert a cd /DVD and test if it still works....what about its drive letter, same as before? To integrate it will be no problem..........
Dear the CD/DVD work and same drive letter but when I open the DVD that I write the image on it its empty. Regards
The WOWBootCd will show up empty because it only has boot image on it nothing else. As soon as Vista starts to load you can take out my cd. Insert some other cd you have and try to read files. Oh it works on 64bit too? Nice. Btw, u used the cd that make you type WOW|GRUB? @Yen, new floppy in 4 hrs.
CD/DVD ITS WORK NORMAL , yes I write wow and then grub and its activate. but when we dont need this cd just start Vista and It activate regards
