[Not working anymore] How to upgrade from W7/8.1 without going through the complete upgrade process

    Hi does anybody know the answer please to my question?
    If I have a laptop with just W8 on it do I have to upgrade it first to 8.1 to generate the genuine ticket or can I do this straight from just W8 without upgrading?

    Without should work. At install dont connect cable or wifi till u put file in proper folder and restart. Works always if proper home or pro selected.

    Ok thats good if it saves me having to move to 8.1 first.
    A little confusing as the start of the thread just states W7 or 8.1 is required to start the process ?
    There is no mention of just W8.

    You need w7 or w8.1 to upgrade, not w8

    So I need to upgrade first then ?

    W8 > W8.1 then generate ticket ? :g:

    You can either upgrade to w8.1 or install a fresh copy of w7 or w8.1 on a different partition or native VHD, to get the ticket or to upgrade

    I'm just pointing out what are the offficial requirements . Win8 may work, but personally i never tested it.

    Anyway, just use a vhd, not a whole hdd to test it, a way faster and simpler method to test such things.

    Hai anyone tell me that I installed Windows 8.1 Pro and activated it with KMS activator, after that connected internet and inserted Windows 10 build 1511 dvd and opened the dvd and run the setup it asked upgrade and i selected important updates not right now and choose what to keep nothing and upgraded, after the installation complete opened my computer properties and trying to activate it, its activated and showing digitally activated and ID. is it genuine windows 10 or not..

    @Yen hi,

    This sentence I do not understand where you copy?

    2.1 Copy gatherosstate.exe downloaded from your Windows 10 ISO 10240 to your installation Which should be upgraded.

    Thanks for the help.

    Somewhere to the syspartition of previous windows version installation to be upgraded. AFAIK it doesn't matter C:\

    After you ran it locate GenuineTicket.xml and save it on USB pen.

    It's all OK, just do not know where to copy gatherosstate.exe in Win 7? :confused:

    Any place is good, but given the user usually has no permission to write in C:\ could be a good idea to use C:\folder\

    Frankly I don't remember if gatheroststate requires the admin privileges. If so also C:\ should be fine.

    I have read the instruction's and used gatherosstate.exe to get my GenuineTicket.xml. then i proceeded to update my win7 to win10, after win10 had updated my win7 to win10 i ran gatherosstate.exe again, and got another GenuineTicket.xml.
    I looked at both GenuineTicket.xml before and after install of win10 and the text are both different.
    Is there a reason for this>? and did anyone try to reinstall a clean version using the different xml files.
