Hi, I've been busy getting up to speed with so much info here. End result, I want permanent HWID Windows 10 Pro [UEFI mode (currently in Legacy mode)]. What are the various methods to get to the end result. Which of them would be the best/fastest??? I hope I can finish in time!

    Below is the scenario:

+We bought 2 same model "refurbished" laptops from ebay. The installed OS is Windows 8.1 Core which 1 of 2 laptops has not yet been activated.

+sticker on bottom of laptop indicates "Windows 8.1 for refurb PCs" with product key. Another sticker displays "Pro Windows", not specifically "windows 8 Pro". Is this laptop supposed to be Windows 8.1 Pro?

    +Oem Query Tool does indicate:
    - OS Version: 6.3.9600.17415 [core/home?], slic 2.1, oem:Dm, legacy bios mode, [generic key?] D3VPT

    +slmgr /dlv : indicates key = 8HVX7, core retail

Would this method be good? Or Better steps/methods?

    -method 1: Windows 7

    Dual install/boot Windows 7 pro/ultimate + DAZ Loader
Confirm online via IE for Genuine
gatherosstate from build 10586 iso [rather than 10240]
    Install using 10586 iso

    -method 2: Windows 8 +MTK [how?]

    Thank you.

Non of the windows editions will be offered for free when the free upgrade offer ends.

Those who have linked the previously established HWID to their MSA can use the MSA to repair (or maybe transfer) the (HWID) activation when needed. For Home and Pro.

What are those going for? Are they tied to HW or do you get to take it with you as you move ?

Windows 8 is not directly upgradeable either way. 8.1 is but 8.1 core does not upgrade to w10 pro
Method 1, but why dual boot? w7 pro and ultimate?

w7 ultimate+Daz/genuine can do it alone.

    Thanks for reply Yen.

-As I am writing now, I am going through the Win7 ultimate dual boot with my existing win8.1 core. Dual boot just in case something goes wrong during the process and I can get back to my win8.

-I used an AIO win7 installer [most likely multibrands oem slp integrated] which I made via MDL instructions a long time ago. So, I don't remember details. Upon first boot, I get the following via slmgr without explicitly using Daz.
    +OEM_SLP channel
    +rearm count: 3
    +partial Product Key: TMPWP
    +permanently activated

-Is the rearm count a concern? Do I need to use Daz before proceeding to next step with gatherosstate method from build 10586 iso [rather than 10240] and clean install using 10586 iso?

-I am trying to determine if this win7 install is a volume license one?

Since the OEM query tool indicated slic 2.1 the PC is licensed to activate w7 already. You can make a genuine check and go on. No need for Daz, you are licensed officially already and the SLP AIO had the certificate already.

    add:
You are on the OEM_SLP channel, means SLP license, no volume or retail..anything good. :) Ultimate has no volume licensing either way...

Btw: w7 should have the SP1 integrated already in order to upgrade.
