It's no minit module on my Asus M2NPV-MX... But I used only the CBROM32_115 and HEdit to create the modded bioses. No I don't have the new modbin, sorry.
No problem About MEMINIT.BIN : The first mods that bricked were for Abit boards. We modded a SLIC and ALL Abit boards with that 'new' module bricked. At that time there was no cbrom that could set the entry point for this module. The only solution for us was to modify the modules and to remain MEMINIT.BIN' s offset!! This mod we called OEM7 mod. We didn't need to use modbin a long time. But I used it again cause I want to edit the systembios. This was no good idea at MEMINIT containing bioses, cause it destroyed the structure of the bios. IMO if the offset is different at the mod it bricks as well!!! So do not move code, better is to release all modules and insert them again! We should not use modbin, except the new one when somebody has got it. @woodburn1118 If you want to try a new mod, please ask. And sorry again, mobin destroyed your bios. I should have known this before, but I didn't! Yen
I will not get my New Barebone and motherboard back for about 10 days, I will try a new mod then Yen ,Thank You
Congratulations, perbe! You used latest CBROM32_115 and Hedit. You've inserted a module and released it to correct checksum. The new compressed size of the system bios, was is larger than the original one? Have you moved the code (modules), or have you released all the modules and inserted them again (as I do, but this is very time consuming). Thank you. (I can check this by myself, but I'd be pleased if you can tell it to me) Yen
Tool used for the mod: CBROM32_115 HEdit (Standard Hex editor) TotalCMD for comparing and unpacking HEdit first to find the systembios and save it to a new file called 1501.lha ... extracted it with totalcmd and edited the extracted file with HEdit. Then I used CBROM32_115 to rearchive the modified systembios. I compared the filesize to the original compressed systembios. Then I used HEdit and moved the other modules to get space for the new bigger systembios. (moved all modules 1501mod.lha-1501.lha) This bios did not have any SUM8 check after the modules like my old one. I used CBROM32_115 and added a small modules and released it again to fix the checksum...
Thanks for your explanation. I thought to move the code will be harmful, because of the minit module, but it worked! (This is why we had some bricked boards before, well a bios is good for surprises at any matter) Yen
It works fine perbe,I copied the four Asus OEM files into my XP Pro OEM CD.I used Everest but could not find any SLIC???
Hehe, there are two different things, don't mix them up: 1. SLP1.0 activation for Windows XP. Therefore you need only a special string in a special physical address range, the OEM files and a OEM royalty key. No SLIC! 2. SLP2.0 activation for Vista. You need a ACPI table which contains the public key and the public marker. This is called SLIC! Additionally you need a certificate and a OEM royalty key. No text string. SLP= SystemLockedPreinstallation, version 1 and 2. SLIC= SoftwareLicensingInternalCode Yen
Oh! ok yen,I was under the false impression I had to have SLIC.It shows you how much I know. I want to Thank You again, you guys are doing an outstanding job
