I'm using 1903, Ran the toolkit today, removed all available, app packages & Microsoft apps but noticed Edge & One drive still installed. Ran & installed the wim on a VM & noticed all the packages are all still available in "AppData\Local\Packages" Can all this bloat be removed before install of the OS?
Done a little more testing, have removed some of those packages manually after using the script by remounting the wim. Haven't managed to break the OS yet. Getting close to where I want it to be.
Can you PLEASE, provide a tutorial and step by step guide with explanation of what all these components do ? I have LTSC and want to strip it down further
Anyone tried this with 1909? We know that it is basically the same as 1903 so it should work without any problems but i think i read somewhere that ben was looking into releasing a version dedicated to it if i'm not mistaken
When I get time perhaps, like many have taken many hours reading the in & outs of Dism & many more hours of testing.
Yes, this script works on 1909, I use it on it and the guide works for 1909, I'll add my OO log files what I remove when I get home from CPR training, which took one of my scheduled weekends days off.
Ive had a lok at post no1 and the github page but i didnt see "Optimize-LTSC", you got a link for that please Doh i see it. Is there a link for it if it is a seperate project?
Can not use this script, alerts : Optimize-Offline requires a 64-bit environment, But my system is LTSC2019X64, was wrong?
I may have found out what's causing the problem. I just tried it again with explorer closed and defender disabled, the script failed again, so I closed it. Then after that I checked to see what files were being accessed by what process and I found out that a couple of files in the mounted directory were being accessed by the System (PID 4) process. I can't close this process because then my computer would shut down. Also the registry is accessing a bunch of files and hives in the mounted directory
